Lots of guys runnin em.

I have one in my 60, it was in the rear and is now up front as the rear was replaced with a detroit.

I plan on putting one in the back of the 42 as well.

they work really well, are easy to install, night and day diference on performance, and just all around a pretty good product.
they are the same basic principal as a lok-right in fact im pretty sure they were born from that design with some small changes...

I've been pleased with the one in the rear of my 40. I've got another one I'm going to put in the front sometime soon. I also wheel with two mini trucks that run these in the rear and the locker has performed well for them as well.

For the price, you can't beat it for the added traction.

I am on both mud and pirate4x4. I have heard nothing but positive things about the aussie locker. The only people who have negatives are the guys running arb selectables, or the detroit guys who forked out a lot more money for the same performance. Obviously ARB's are great because of the selectability. If you dont require it then the Aussie is the way to go!!

any downsides???? thanks

Yes. But, they are the same downsides of any auto locker. Ratcheting around corners, the occasional BANG!, not the best on icy roads, not the best on slippery side slopes, etc. But, like I said, this is true of ALL auto lockers.

Selectability is nice, but you pay $$$ for it. An Aussie is the way to go for a budget locker IMHO. I have one and it has worked great for over a year.

I have removed more that a few broken lock-rights from Land Cruiser and Toyota Mini axles along with broken Detroits that failed because an axle shaft broke and it sheared off all those tiny little locking teeth in the Detroit.

I ran them in a Mini truck that had a 4.3 V6 in it I had for many years and they worked great. I have installed a lot of them into Land Cruiser and Mini axles for people and they love them.

:meh:

I just installed one a couple of weeks ago in my 40, I have never worked on a diff before and I even found it easy to install, I have not had a chance to run it yet to test the performance but I have never heard any negatives about it, especially for the price, it seems like a simple, quality build piece of gear, I am very hopeful that it will perform as advertised and from all of the threads on here about it I have no doubts at all. I read a lot of threads before I purchased it. THANKS AGAIN MUD FOR ALL THE GOOD ADVICE

esp. in a light SWB rig, your driving style will have to change on the street, esp. with sharp corner and u-turns etc. Once you get past that and understand it will bang once in a while and be perfectly ok then I say it's been one of the best upgrades for the money that I've done (for a trail truck). I haven't had a problem yet with snow and ice (I think the MT/Rs help with that - they stay stuck to the ground).

I know some people who say Aussie stole the design from Powertraxx, I don't know the story though.

I think they tend to act funny with a standard trans on the street but they do work well ive got one in the front of my 40 and it works well

The man that designed the Aussie also designed the Lock Right. He just refined his design once he left Lock Right and hence the release of the Aussie Lockers.

I have nothing bad to say about about the Aussies at all. I have installed 10+ and they are all still going strong. I also run Aussies front and rear in my 40 w/ 38s and have had zero issues.

Hi All:

X2 what "Subzali" wrote!

If you are leaving on an expedition, I'd say buy two (2) Aussie Lockers! One to install in the rear diff now, and one as a spare.

Honestly, these are very strong units, especially when running them in a rig with a 2H or 2F and less than 36 inch tires.

Regards,

Alan
