I would go with the 31's. My 40 has 4 inch lift springs, longer shackles in the rear and the shackle reversal in the front (another 1.5 inchs of lift) and my 33's still rub on rear. But mine are 33x12.5 too. I had 31x10.5's before the 33's and they did just fine.

The 33x 9.5's are narrow , but not that narrow. I think they look good. Kinda gives the truck an old school vibe.

They could bend out the rear fenders at full twist too. Get 9.5s. I've got 33x9.5s on stock suspension and it tucks nicely.

Check out Paul's thread (post #41). He just put 33x9.5x15 with a 2.5" OME lift. I know you will not be lifting it but Paul likes the 9.5's (especially since he does not have power steering). Thought this picture would give you a good idea how 9.5's would look.

I ordered the 31's last night. When I get them on I will post up pics so the next person can have something to look at when they have this question. The 235's are going on my fuel injected 85 4runner.

The bottom two pics are 9.50s cause I just finished the build and had cheap tires put on for mock up. The top pic are 10.50s and the pic is taken 2 years after the build. Here,s another pic,The rear tires are hitting the rear quarter now because of the width and rims, plans are for OME suspention next week befor hunting .

I got the 31 put on yesterday and have attached a photobucket link. I think I could have fit the 33's but I am happy with the 31's.

Looks good - here's what the 33X10.50's look like with a 2.5" shackle lift:
