Next project... Craigslist find

Well, I needed another project like a hole in the head.....But

Found this last week on Craigs.....I need to learn to say NO.

The lister started the project 2 yrs ago, and ran out of steam and time.

1974 rust free body and fairly straight.(love the color...merlot...come on people)

frame has been sandblasted and powder coated

350 was completelyrebuilt and updated crank, cam and bore Now 383 stroker

First of the small loads

not pictured: front disc brake and rear axles (both front and rear axles were prof. rebuilt by local driveline shop)

So..picking up all the big stuff w/uhaul mid week.

Plans...all body will be dropped off at sandblaster on way home, frame, driveline, suspension to the garage (mine) for assembly. and wait for sandblaser then to lineX for the comlpete bottom and tub interior...then to paint. Unsure of color....thinking Mustard Yellow, Code 532 or Olive Brown, Code 653..What do you all think?? I know...wrong year...but I have a green and red one already

You do have a saint for a wife. I showed this thread to mine and she just said no, but I think her eyes were saying yes. Besides I'm trying to soften her up so I can get a 45 pick up some day, wish me luck.

Nice find, some guys have all the luck.

Great start on the powerplant. I assume he welded in the new motor mounts before powdercoating (?) What's the rest of the drivetrain & future plans gonna be?

Mustard it is...I was leaning that way anyway. Ya the motor was in this frame before powdercoat and rebuild so mounts are in, the tranny and transfer are cruiser 4spd and 3spd transfer.. UNLESS anyone has a H55f they would like to donate.

Nice ride

Chris Looks like you did pretty good on the purchase. A lot of the big cash was already spent on motor and frame . Great Buy ! Dave Oh yes ,we just back from Maui last night ! Stayed out at the Westin ....Very nice beaches all over the place. ATV riding a little dusty ...Much nicer ATV rides on Kaui.

Nice score. Was this on CL locally (San Diego)? If its the same one I am thinking it is, it sounds like you got a great deal. When I contacted him, the deal was pending, so it sounds like you won out. Glad it went to a Cruiser addict. Post up build pics as you go. Enjoy.

Yeah, that was the one. Nice. I was looking to see if he would sell the winch seperately, but sounds like you had already bought the rig. You got a great deal. Congrats.

Nice score. Paint it white and the FJ40 trio can be parked in the front yard during the holidays as Christmas ornaments!!! My vote is Dune Beige but Mustard is cool too.

WTF is that vent they put in the roof?!?!?! If it's that hot, open the rear hatch!

Good luck with the rebuild! Great place to start (someone else taking it apart)!

If I paint it mustard and park it in the middle..it'll look like a traffic light
