1984 FJ60 2F going into 1969 FJ40
Hi All,
I figure I'd post some pictures up of this little project. I have a 1969 FJ40 I bought, tore down and am rebuilding.
It had an old Chevy 235 engine in it that I gave away to a Chevy truck guy for cheap. I found a 2F here on mud from Mule and am putting that in.
In order to get the motor in, I decided to keep the 3 speed and transfer case. Another mudder had a 3 speed bellhousing and motor brackets here in Phoenix (thanks John!)
The front brackets from the 1984 seem to be in the same spot, but there is a difference in the motor mounts. The newer motors don't have the threaded hole on top and threaded post on the bottom. They have a flat top with threaded post and flat bottom with threaded post.
The picture below shows the comparison.

Thanks Dan. Yeah, I like the idea of white. That way I can see leaks and dirt easier. The tub will be yellow. I figured I'd have fun with this one. Have you ever seen inside an engine room on a big boat? blocks and gear is usually painted with marine coatings in white. It really looks clean. That's what i'm going for with this one. The engine will come out again and get cleaned up, but not sure what i'm going to paint the block.

An update
Well it isn't 9 million degrees in my garage anymore, so I put this motor back together. I need a radiator, fan, and fan clutch. I'll be looking classifieds if anyone has parts and are in southwest, that would be cool.
