Who wants a ToyBox?

Also in the FJ60 section.

We are out of stock on the output shafts. We are work on it. We recieved about 30 calls this week regardeing the ToyBox output shafts. So I would like to get a count so we can start planning since Marlin is on the hunt. I have already taken a few orders but we are not ready (at this time) for pre orders. Post up please if you plan to get one with in the next year.

Please also give us some info on the appilcation to. Post up year of truck, Trans type, T-case type (splitcase or 3sp/4spd) and gear ratio (2.28: or 4.70:1).

Thanks,
Dave

partial toybox

Dave,

I won't be buying a toybox in the next year, due to my personal budget. But...

I've got a 1981 (Cdn spec) BJ42. I'd be bolting the (4.7:1) toybox to an H55F transmission and matching split-case.
It seems that recently, toyboxes have been available, but it's the H55F specific 19 spline output shaft (and possibly the 4.7 gears to match) that's been out of stock (?).

If I got the output shaft in this batch, could I install it in a 'generic' (gas-engine) toybox when the budget does allow? (basically buying just the H55F specific parts to put on the shelf) Are the 4.7 gears specific to the 19 spline output shaft?

If my thinking makes sense, I'll likely be able to afford the output shaft with this order, and also not have to wait for a complete unit (assuming you guys sell out of the this batch of 19 spline shafts again) when the time comes.

CruzrDave,

I will be looking to purchase a Toybox by summer. I have 1976 FJ40 with a 2f and will be installing an H41. I have a 4speed (for excahnge?) and I want a 2.28 ratio.
Is there anything else you need from me? Should I just call the shop?

Thanks

Bill L

Toybox needed in the fall of this year. 1978 FJ-40, 4speed, want 4.7-1. I'd love an H41 trans but having trouble finding one close by. Would I benefit running a split case vs the oem 78 case??? Strength? I might run out of room with the toybox though.

What are folks doing with the frame crossmember behind the brake drum? Removal or what? this has been my major concern over this mod. thanks Ken

You pretty much have to remove it. Not much else you can do.

Dave, I've got Steve from EBI sourcing a 4.70 toybox for me. Mine will be between a GM 700R4 auto and 16 spline t-case from my 75 40. Looking for it as soon as all the parts are available

Dave, thinking this over again (crunched some gearing number), not sure if I need the 4.7. 2.28 will probably be more then I will ever need. That being said, is there a big price difference between the two gear sets and can one switch in 4.7 gears into a box with 2.28 at later (much later) date?

That would be some serious gear reduction! Why do you want it so low? You could just consider SM420 + Orion, which would fit in a 40 better.

I like the option of going lower and personally prefer the H41 over SM420, chance is once I get it, it will spent years sitting in my garage like the Orion did before I build it up.

LOL-understood.

The SM420 is a little clunky for sure, but you really don't notice it when it's sitting in the garage.

Toybox

I'd buy one today if it were available. 85 splitcase to 4l60e 4.7 ratio

If I cant get one within 6 months I'll go w/ 4 sp. Atlas and Diamond centered rear housing.

19 Spline shafts instock!!!!!!!!!

The 19 spline shafts are now in stock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Guys, sorry for not keeping everyone up to date. I've been too busy to post up the updates on the 19 spline shafts. Plus I really wanted to make sure they were actually here and held one in my hands. We received our air freight order of 25 shafts this morning. They are here!!! We are ready to take orders and build the ToyBox!

We can currently offer the ToyBox for the following transmissions and the 19 split case.

SM420
SM465
H41/42
H55F
TH350
TH400
TH700R4
4L60/E (4 bolt or 6 bolt tail housing)
NV4500

Just a note. We have never advertised this but these 19 spline output shafts, input gears and 4.70 gears ratio are made of 4320 Cromoly.

Thanks for being patience with us. We are offering a $100 off your ToyBox purchase to all the people who posted on this thread before this post (you are all known as the "Patience Ones"). When you call in tell us who you are. Offer expires 10/31/2009. If you did not post up before or if you post up after this reply you have until 8/31/09 to get in on the discount.

I have a 5.3 vortec, 4L60E with a 6 to 4 bolt adapter and the modified shaft installed that I was going to run an NP203 behind in front of either the 40 t case, or the split 19 spline.

Would this work?
If so, Im interested!

We can set you up if you do or do not have the 6 to 4 bolt adapter. As of right now, we only have the Toy Box kits to go into a split case. My opinion is the split case would be the way to go anyway.

We only had 4.7 inputs made for the H55F whereas the other trannies have the 2 input options. We tend to see more H42/41s and SM420/465s than we do H55s so those have the second option
