Replaced my battery with a new Yellow Top, and while I was at it, put in a new tray and cables.
And then I cleaned my 30+ year old oem toolbag and took it to the tailor to sew in a new zipper.
The latter got me declared officially nuts by my wife.

Last week I added a manual fuel primer and tonight I removed the two junk ass batteries and swapped in a 1000CA battery with a kill switch. It actually starts normal and runs without me getting all bent outa shape. It's also got a new massive hook on the back for a tow point. It still has a sputter and it sorta sputters or hiccups if I depress the accelerator. It's like missfire or something. Timing or running too rich?
I also have a new spare tire that came in. Gotta mount that too and get a few things done before wheeling this sunday.

Got to work on what we thought was a bad alternator, after we spent the money on converting to the sbc alternator we found that the problem was our wire off the positive post on the alternator had been burned though by my exhaust manifold. Well i guess the only good news is every thing under the hood is all Chevy now

Newbie Paints Wheels
Hi All! Newbie FJ40 owner here! I've always wanted to get an FJ40 and a family member sold me his 12/'74 with original F engine and 74k miles. I'm just starting the project, so this week I cleaned and painted the wheels back to white!

well i drove it to my parents tonight to basically say i am done working on it for the year so far. next weekend it goes to deercamp where during rifle season it will prove itself with everything i did to it this last year which should impress the hunting crew. also after season it will go into storage at my parents for the winter where it can hibernate in peace where me and the cruiser can dream of the fun things we did together this last summer. before that happens though we gotta get through deer season where i am hoping we get some use out of the brand new tsl's.

Got it on the road last week, getting some work out of it this week. Supposed to snow tonight so it's definitely (past) time to pull the boat!

Finally got around to installing new tie rod ends. Not an exciting upgrade, but it cleaned up the steering slop quite a bit.

Project high-mount power steering and alternator (ala 60 series) completed!
-got the power steering and alternator belt for my 2F (OEM spec)
-moved the alternator from lower driver side mount to upper passenger side mount
-removed the alternator brackt and installed the air pump bracket on lower drivers side (no engine mount removal necessary)
-installed gutted & refurbished air pump and belt to lower driver side mount as water pump tensioner
-f*@$in' struggled with the OEM spec belt for 1 hour before giving up
-spliced in the alternator wires (off spare harness) into the passenger side harness - here I was able to pop out the couplers in the plug for the voltage regulator and plug the spare harness parts right in, I used the post mount for the battery/fusible link to alternator wire for the new alternator wire, and just had to solder in the ground)
-taped up the old alternator plugs for use with a second alternator should I install one)
-traded the OEM spec 1525 belt for a 1550 and still struggled to get it on, but did.
-burped the P/S system
-drove and checked for squeals and leaks and oversights (none :-)
Bad news is the missus can once again drive it :-(

still working on my gauge cluster swap. I got the blinkers and hi beam wired in. debating on where to tie in for the 12v hot and grnd. That and I have the sending unit for the fuel gauge to tie in and it's done. It shouldn't take 2 weeks to do this but I've torn it apart twice after changing my mind on a couple of things.

Installed the body, aux. gas tank, fill tube, front end, buffed the body and plan on buffing it again a few times Monday and install the cage. Wednesday need to spray red on the doors, windshield top of hood and rear hatch.
