Thanks!
I had to remove the step supports for the slider steps to fit...but am thinking about drilling some new holes in them so they will fit. My brother weighs in around 220 and was bouncing on the steps today and they didn't flex the rockers a bit, so I might leave them alone

Hi All:
"KRC73," tell us more about the 12 bolt mini-spool install!
Any modifications required on the mini-spool to get it to fit/work in the TLC diff?
Have you had a chance to drive the rig yet? What do you think of the handling, noise, etc.??
Thanks.
Alan

Hi All:
"Archie816a," tell us more about your plans.
You are installing 75 Series leaf springs under a FJ55? Is this as a SUA or SOA swap?? Which 75 Series springs are you speaking of; stock, aftermarket, or ??
Regards,
Alan

It started as a simple mod
All I needed to do was drill and tap the intake manifold on my 283 SBC for a temp switch for the elect fan, Well as long as the intake was off I took off the valve covers to track down a small oil leak! and then I noticed that a few of the rockers were a bit off and the valve stems were worn funny, So off came the heads to the machine shop they went for a full Valve job. While I was waiting I fixed up the fan temp switch and a few other things, then got the heads back on, in the end it runs better than ever. Good thing the fan needed work or I might of been left on the trail with a dead engine!

Built my new shorty shaft (took 8" out of the stock shaft) to accomodate my new longer drive-train. Just need to get it balanced and installed, might need to move to a DC shaft, I'll have to see how this one does.
Installed an FJ80 MC to take care of my new 4-wheel disc brake setup. Just need to plumb a couple more pieces of brake line and that will be done.

Rewired the back license plate light wires. PO decided it would be fun to cut the wires instead of unplug them. Cut my dash cover so it doesn't cover the light. And fixed the latch on the driver side rear ambulance door. Over all a good day. We will see what other things need to be fixed tomorrow.

R&R'd birf 1/4 mile from Loon Lake, R&R'd spring pin couple miles from Rubicon Springs, R&R'd a shackle after fabing the new one from my wag bag at the top of Cadillac Hill. All in all a pretty good week with my cruiser at the Rubicon Trail.

Picked up body from sand blaster.
Dropped off body at body shop for filler and primer.
Picked up frame from powdercoater.
Installed springs and axles under the clean frame.

The 12 bolt mini spool was a fairly easy install, everything fit just like it should have in a Chevy 12 bolt rear end. Only mod. was to slightly trim my c-clips.
So far no off road test, on road its nice no noise just no tight turns. Can't wait to test it off road but i would have to say i would recommend a mini spool for anyone wanting to cheaply lock they're rear diff.

I ordered it from summit, I went with the Richmond gear one for $109 including shipping and was able to reuse my cross pin from my my original open diff, but i heard of people using the summit one too I think it would have been $105 shipped.

Clutch Hydraulics
Rebuilt the master and slave clutch cylinders. Blew out the line too. The system was filled with a muddy sludge - I'm surprised it even worked! Don't you Aussie's ever bleed your brakes/clutch?
Hey, what's the deal with that little plastic pill that floats in the reservoir? (It's leaning on the cap in my pic).

Dunno about the floaty thing all have them and as for bleeding why bother as 40 series brakes don't work anyway thats why we have really big bullbars downunder... lol

Pretty sure that float is so the fluid doesn't spill out of the breather on the cap when you are not driving on smooth flat surfaces.

I've always thought it was to limit the surface area of the brake fluid that is exposed to the air (to reduce moisture-absorption).
