Started pulling up the bedliner that PO had installed in the interior. I found a ton of rust. I think I'm in "new tub" territory but I don't have the money right now. I'm probably just going to POR it all, cover it back up with bedliner, and drive it until I can get a new tub.

Installed new exaust 2.5" with a flow master mufler- from the header flange to the tail pipe, all new.
New headlights, and fixed troublesome turn and running lights: (had 3 wires crossed, at least one shorted wire, one half burned out bulb, the left running/turn light wasn't grounding properly, and a loose fuse - geesh!). Installed new air horn and side view mirror. Tonight I will adjust those new eyes after it gets dark. This week is inspection and Texas plates!!! Anything else? Bring it on...

Replaced tail lights broken at Round Up. Figured out I have an electrical issue related to my rt frt turn signal. Replaced a blown fuse and after sucking rich exhast gas for way too long, discovered that the buterfly on the automatic choke was adjusted full the wrong way....few turns of the screwdriver and bingo, big part of the running rich problem solved. Also discovered screws for dist dust cover were poking thru cap causing a good shock when you touched them. Replaced plugs, cap and rotor.....during which I noticed throttle cable was three threads of wire away from breaking...built a new one. Wonder why I never have time to work on my 79?

Striped most of the rig this week. Having a little trouble with the windshield bolts might need a bigger hammer to encourage them to come out and then it is off to the blasting shop. Nothing better than clean metal...maybe painted metal and put back together.

Switched the insurance from Nevada to Texas - replaced the final light bulb so all running/turning/stop lights work.
Ready for DMV inspection tomorrow and Texas plates.

Funny - in Texas you have to register your rig first - then they let you get a drivers license

pulled front bumper off, that was fun, traced it down and found my sending unit was bad for fuel gauge, hooked up tail lights and got them working, got my blinker lights inside the cab working, installed all new components all the way around for all the brakes, traced all the wires and figured out what i need for my 53 wiring troubles. that was it this week a lot of little tinkering, the brake job sucks but the wiring isn't so bad.

I am constantly tearing out, replacing and discovering wiring problems. Would you send some pointers my way? I would like to have all wiring clean and tied to a new fuse panel. Not sure how to go about it piece meal, my HJ 47 is my daily driver, and I work out of it all day long as a contractor.

Checking in

Hey Werd,

It has had one wide open season of work, good & not so good, slowly putting small repairs together for my HJ 47. I want to clean up the wiring; it is a constant discovery process; weeding out, replacing. Any pointers you might have would be greatly appreciated.

SeattleMobile,

Mark
