Sad Day!!!!!

This week I put my cruzer up on jack stands, filled the tank and added fuel stabilizer, and set it up for a one year storage in my fathers barn. Oh well at least it will be safe, dry, and started every couple of weeks until i can reclaim it

Drove it!

May not seem like much, but she sat with a water leak for 5 months.

Then, I fixed that and she wouldn't start.

So today I continued tracing circuits (with help of the Diesel section).

I found an oddball problem. Everything pointed to fusible link, but the fusible link tested out OK (even so I rebuilt it - to no avail). The wire after the fusible link tested OK too (2 inches after the connection).

I decided this had to be a questionable wire anyway, so I checked it inside the firewall.

What I found was weird and uncommon.

The wire that tested OK outside the firewall was bad inside the firewall (and there is no intermediary plug).

I ran a test wire b/t the 2 and it worked!

So, I ran a 12 gauge wire that I piggybacked off of the power side and spliced into the firewall side.

Then I went out for a drive!!!

Next, I need to figure out how to get rid of my blow-by.

At least I am driving in time for summer! I am told I can drive with a blow-by for years. I think I might until I can find a 3B with a 5 speed.

Best all,

T

Thumbs up this week

Installed a G.R. ( gear reduction) FJ60 starter(rema. from Napa) buy 5 used military tires 900 x16 ,now need to order 16x6.5 steels rims to get ready to Florida swamps.

Notice the tall tires 9.00x16 next to 34x10.50x17 Super Swamper LTB..before someone said something,,here in Florida we don't have mountains or snow or rock climbing hills...so a taller tire is good here for our trails that when the rainy season start its just water all over

Finished up the knuckle rebuild on my BJ42.

When putting the calipers back on I noticed a torn boot. Upon further investigation it became obvious a full rebuild is in order, including two new pistons to replace pitted ones (the other six are just fine).

tore the intake manifold off to begin the search for source of water in oil. found a crack in the top of the head :(

figure this is maybe a good time to upgrade. a friend of mine has a small block 400 ( 350 in right now ).
anyone know of any serious complications in a swap like this ?

Eshu, those sure look like old military tires to me. Maybe a surplus store might have some?

Decided I didnt like the way the strapless bikini looked so I
made a strap bikini.....I have some black and khaki canvas but
found some OD green today so I made it out of the green...

Took some trial and error to find the right taper so the straps
would pull the slack correctly....Its amazingly tight and .....well.....Canvas is just cool.....Oh yeah...the wally world sewing machine is long gone now....

i finally got the 40 running with the new TPI set up. it took me almost 2 years researching and finding all the parts to do it right. i bought all the books i could find on TPI and read them twice and studied everything i could find on google. still have to set timing and adjust the idle setting but it RUNS. oh and to piss off the purists i had a TOYOTA throttle body plate made (LOL) still have to get the vette valve covers finished and put them on but finally getting there.
