My not quite gay 2F is almost ready to go in. Just need to get the water pump and alternator/power steering brackets on it and it will hopefully will be good to go. It's been an incredibly expensive and long process and I'm hoping to have the truck up and running this weekend. I've built a couple of motors and I've checked and double checked everything as I went but i'm still going to be nervous when I turn that key.

You still have a motor, it's just not in one piece or currently anywhere near your cruiser. My truck's been sitting with the nose pulled off and drivetrain out since last October. The truck always used oil and turned it black pretty quick, but ran fairly well until last season when it started to smoke like crazy and the oil consumption went up to about a quart every 100 miles. The last few pages of your build thread had me double and triple checking everything as I assembled my motor. That's gotta suck but at least you know it will be right this time.

No I don't. But if I did it would probably be a lot like yours. Sometime I'll have to do a ROTW and explain the whole process I went through building it over the last several years.

Lessee...
Painted the Stinky twice added some hippo liner accents and started to put body parts back on, Welded up the steering stabilizer bracket I broke on the last trip it was out
Started to part out Red Dwarf.
Made a front license plate holder for Clementine as well as fixed the rear bumper side I tore off while wheeling on her maiden voyage, repaired some of the turn light housings too.
Things I hope to start in the coming week are...
Finish wiring Stinky, Check out the front axle on Clementine and Red Dwarf to see what usable parts I can make one good axle out of, Maybe part more from Red Dwarf so I can possibly start on the trailer project.

Gosh, owning a LandCruiser sure does require a lot of time on the telephone.

I spent a good solid 12 hours working on my 40 yesterday. Put the engine/transmission/transfercase in as one unit. Much easier than messing with a tranny jack after the motor is already in. At 10:30 last night I turned it over and got nothing, even after priming the fuel system with an electric pump. Poured a little gas down the throat of the carb, hit the key and it fired right up. I only ran it for about 5-10 seconds just to make sure it had oil pressure, then I cleaned myself up and went to bed. Hopefully i'll do the 20 minutes at 2000 rpm break in tomorrow, set the timing, re-adjust the valves, change the oil, and get the sheetmetal back on if all goes well.

Hi All:
Yep, I've torn-out the sidewall on both second generation and third generation BFG MTs. Haven't given the fourth generation (KM2) a try; went to the bias-ply Super Swamper TSL instead.
Regards,
Alan

Hi All:
Yes it is - can't argue with that statement!
But, be aware that he is pretty busy currently. He does run a small shop!

Got it running and took the kids for a ride. Tore the ps steering arm off. Get to do a rebuild and six stud arms a little sooner than I thought.

I washed it for the first time in 12 years!
Bolted on the front plate - and trouble shot the left turn signal (not flashing)

Re-covered the front seats
Actually, it was last week. Added some extra 1" foam to the lumbar area of the seat backs and to the bottom pads. Wire-brushed all the metal and repainted everything and finally got the drivers seat to move on the tracks. Worst part of the job was getting hog rings up into the seat backs and seat base for the pull down loops...I pity the guy who has to do this for a living...his hands must look like hamburger. Turned out pretty good for a total amateur at upholstry...my butt even thinks the truck rides better now.

Today, got the front ARB airlocker installed....Longfields went in at the same time.
Got 2 new stickers to find room for.
Plus, got a really complete, professional, hub rebuild...that I was not expecting, from Sean at River City Differentials (Rancho Cordova). Completely biased acclamation. That guy is a wheeler, knows his stuff and will not let anything half-assed leave his shop, even if it's just cleaning up after a dipshit customer...and without embarrassing him too much.
