The bumpers on this thing are ridiculous. They are thick iron and they stick out way far. The rear one takes any departure angle this thing ever had. It was used as a standing platform for hunting in TX I think judging from the handles on the old top I took off. I'm likely going to have it cut off and have the front one modded a bit so it doesn't get hung up on the rocks.
(don't worry, I'll put the bezel on correctly when I'm done painting )

Blew out the back of the muffler It sounds the same but doesn't smell the same inside the truck. It's a flowmaster 40.
Will fixie soon.

Painted the engine, installed the new vavle covers, rebuilding/cleaning the Carter carb on the 350 at work tomorrow, taking the hardtop to the blaster and some other parts.
My rollbar order will be here on Sunday. Then the fun begins...

Had a look at the hand brake.
Good news - just needed adjusting, no leaks, glad I looked though because the output nut on the rear of the transfer box was slack.
Bad news found the HST Parabolic leaf springs I fitted last week have to go long side to the front otherwise the propshaft has no travel inwards. Still easy to spin them round when everything is new, just messy because I greased the bushes the day before.

Time to drop the Top!
Removed the hard top all by myself via the "manhandle it" way. (not fun)

Not yet but I will take a few next week. It's an FJ45 with no bed but the fronts all there. Old new springs, bought them second hand and got new HST shackles and bushes. So much lighter than the stock 45 springs.

After I finished welding on the sliders, I rust bulleted the frame (two coats of silver and one of black.) After letting that cure for two days, I put in the clutch assembly, and re-attached the body with new mounts.
Then I re-installed the 'new' drivetrain (SM465, NP203, 3-spd t-case) with x-member for hopefully the last time. After that I got the rear axle re-installed and put my girl back on all four wheels for the first time in months.

Got the lean out of my cruiser yesterday. It looks good sitting straight. Actually it has a bit of a possitive lean to the drivers side. It should settle down a bit. I just had the rear passenger spring re arched. It's a happy cruiser now.

I pulled the old rear springs, ghetto-fabbed rear spring/shackle mounting brackets and rear crossmember off the 79; shiny new parts ready to go in after some frame repair. I made a bunch of progress on the 73 Exhaust and putting the interrior back together.

Finally got everything laid out cleaned, and started putting the 2F back together. Crank, pistons, and cam are in. Hopefully I'll finish assembling it this week and try to get the driveline back in the truck this weekend. I still need to get an oil pan so I won't be able to start it, but I need to continue forward progress.

Tks Alan! Been a loooooong road. Few more things and she'll be back on the road - the hardest parts are done now.

I dusted off the 2nd of my 18-months-long half-door project, cleaned off all the old Toyota black rubber, glue and wtf-is-that-tar-crap-they-use-to-glue-the-plastic-inside-the-doors. If you have to do it, start with a wire wheel on a drill to get most of it, then acetone on a rag to clean it up. Nasty.
Then I sanded, so it's ready for primer. The 1st half-door is in primer with the handle and guts working and a crappy door panel.
Is it dumb that I hooked up the lock on the inside?
Here's a couple pictures from the early days of this project. It's 3" muffler pipe on late-model doors. Lotsa work. Much thanks to Otterav!!

Started it and drove it for the first time in almost 4 years! Now it is time to do 1,000 things to make it really road-worthy again.

Finally got the motivation to fix the front brakes after sitting in my driveway for 1.5 years. Doing a disc brake swap as well as master cylinder and new brake lines (have a '69 40 and don't want to deal with 9mm anymore, or single circuit master for that matter).
Going to go look for some Subaru or Celica seats at the bone yard today.

Funny how immediately after the top comes off, my wife suddenly becomes interested in driving the cruiser again.
