Hi All:
Fabbed-up a bracket to hold my hobbled-together "powertank" CO2 air-up system in the bed of my FJ40.
Then took the rig 'wheeling on Sunday, flogging it through some good muddy/rocky trails; the new TSL bias-ply tires really hook-up well!
Unfortunately, forgot the camera at home!
Regards,
Alan

Made a pigtail adapter to the remote quick disconnect under the bib that runs to the Optima battery side posts for jump starting (others or me). Pigtail allows me to plug in my Battery Tender to keep 8 year old Optima strong.

towed home my troopie
I've got lots of little things to take care of:
the water fuel separator is leaking
figure out the two tank selector switch (so I don't run out of fuel)
remove the wire that went to the rear battery
start looking at power steering
but the main thing I did this week is I got it home....

labeled everything, tore the beast down to the block, had the head ground down, new valve guides, valve seats, etc. While the head was at the shop I fixed the speedo that was stuck at 45 mph, peeled off crummy window tinting, ordered a new thermostat, belts, found an ugly minivan bench to fit the kids on. Got the head back, put it back together. Realized I needed to adjust valve clearance; did that. It started! , no more white smoke ! Drove it around, did another valve adjustment. Showed it off to my friends 'cuz I just bought it a couple weeks ago. --- not bad for a complete mechanical newbie, eh?

Got my Safari Summer Top in the mail from SOR, and then had to test it out on a trail run with some other San Diego Cruisers.

Pulled the door panels off, cleaned out all the dirt dobbers hidden in the bottom of the doors and installed new exterior door handles.

Installed new brake pads in the front calipers. Found one frozen caliper piston. Got new caliper. Took severely grooved rotor in to be turned, found out they're below minimum specs for width, ordered two new vented rotors.......should be here Monday.

Pulled the carb off and sent to JimC for a test-tune/rebuild.
Pulled the intake manifold and 6-1 headers off to find/fix an exhaust leak. Leak ended up being b/w the collector and exhaust...so ordered the remflex gasket.
Dropped off the headers at HPC for Jet-Hot coating and dropped the intake manifold off at the media blaster.

Troubleshot and eliminated a small combustion leak (re-torqued head bolts), installed 2 CV driveshafts from High Angle, installed a tach, replaced my wiper blades, tightened some loose shackle bolts/nuts, pulled out the Paki Top for installation this weekend....

Put a Detroit locker in a spare diff, to swap out before the season starts... could be late this year with all the recent snow in the high country.

final decisions on front and rear bumpers
made final decisions on front and rear bumpers. 8274-50 was delivered Friday from WARN, but i was not home. I called for help to have it secured. It is riding around in the back of the Chief of Police's vehicle until we get together on Monday. Sold the majority of the remaining parts from the fj40-75/76 to "meat" in this state. he is coming down on Monday and picking everything up and then I can drive the "old man" into the garage for bumper work with the path cleared out. then comes the electrical.

Tore down the York compressor I picked up some months ago. Looks like the $40.00 pick & pull was worth it! Long stroke, good valves, bearing & crank in great shape. tapped & plugged the suction oil bypass tube.
Got a bit to cavalier and cracked the ceramic shaft seal. Ordered a replacement from Kilby. It's the least I could do for all the tech they post on their site!
