Sweet! Gotta love old magazines. A couple of years ago, I bought a bunch of 1970's Four Wheeler magazines. Had some pretty cool stuff in there!

Here's some roll over pics from a trail ride in the late 70's. All Dad remembers about this is that the rig had a Chevy in it.

Ask your dad if those pictures were from some of the early TLCA Thanksgiving runs. If so I was probably there also. Great pics. I don't know if I can find any from back then.

msapers -
Those sure look like Red Rock Canyon, also that area to the west of 14 past Jawbone Canyon before you get to Red Rock.
Am I close?
Cool pictures.

A couple "from the days"...
Top one April 1969 at Sespe Creek above Ojai in California. First outing with the family and the cruiser, that’s our 18 mo/old daughter getting started the right way. Now she drives her own 84 FJ60. The 40 is still all stock except for the duel jerry can carrier on the rear driver's side. At that time you could drive back to the Hot Springs.
Second one is Borrego Springs in So. Calif. I believe in 1970. There was an earthquake centered in Borrego Springs that day. Made buying beer almost impossible due to the damage at the liquor store.
Bottom one is at Ocotillo Wells, not sure of year.

Now for the not to pretty shots.
Top one, hey it was the 70's, not sure but most likely out by Indio and the Chocolate Mountains (now closed). Those were probably 29” tires on 8” rims. Talk about FLOTATION!!!
Bottom one is on Tom’s Pass above Bishop, Calif on way to Reno and Lake Tahoe. Had bought a hardtop to replace the soft one. This was around late 70’s. Had built a aux gas tank and tool boxes for the front. Roof vent and that thing on the front of the top is a motorized raise/lower device for the Hustler ham antenna.

Is that a stock color? If so, does anyone know what it is? I like it. Guess I'll have to shop at JCREW now.

Thanks for the enhancement of the pic. I think I might still have the pants, but I know for sure I have that hat.

Anybody notice the home-made wooden roof rack crossbars on that red rig in the beach/log/camera pic? Why didn't I think of that?
