Longfield and grinding question

Is it me, or i try and turn and swing the knuckle and it doesn't seem to rubb anywhere. Could i do not need to grind? or it has never been seen on a 40 axle.

BTW i have a bj42 83, installed 30 spline longfield.

TY

I have installed them into a 1984 60 series and did not have to grind anything to make them fit.

I had to gind on my 76 housing. It looks as though you have a 1983 housing so I would listen to Poser and OrangeFJ45.

I have a '75 axle, I did quite a bit of grinding inside the knucle balls to fit the 30-spline chromoly longfields.

Yeah - while it doesn't make any sense, my two longfield birfs seem to be slightly different sizes. Grind a bit on one side housing and one birf fits in fine, pull that birf out and try the other in the same side, and it doesn't fit - too big.

Anyone else run into this, or am I crazy?

I know absolutely nothing about fitting longfields, but one look at your on-line name and I would say 'you're crazy!'
