What was this hole for?

Does anyone know if this hole (next to rear view mirror) was for a factory option? If so, what option? Thanks, JMP

Sure is, anyone know where the tube comes up into the windshield frame? is it hard or soft through the frame? Sorry for the hi-jack.

Should be a tacked in hard line that runs through the frame on the right side . One end is viewable under that rubber plug and the other in the lower hole that the wiper wires come though from the glove box.

I had that soft line either break or come loose many years ago and soaked everything in my glove box.
