Found these in the door...

There was no cover on the access hole in the drivers door, so I think some PO must have used it to keep stuff in. Maybe he lost these in there, or maybe he left them as a gift to some future owner like in some kind of country song..... Anyways it was cool to pull these out. The owners manual was in the glove box. Found any good stuff while cleaning out your cruiser?

oh yeah, and a small block Chevy from a 66 Vette..

NOw that is a really nice find. That's the second owners manual I have seen here on mud. Those are hard to come by.

I was lucky my 71 came with the owners manual. Although the PO covered the cover with Scotch tape, oh well.

I found my 71 underneath a lean too in Poteet Tx. covered in chicken shi*t about an inch thick. it had dry rotted tires that wouldn't hold air but completely stock. We rolled it up on a trailer and I pulled it home, changed the fluids and a little gas and drove her for about a year until I swapped in a SBC.

Those RB aviators are probably worth some money if cleaned up.

not sure they are(would be Outdoorsmans I think), the curved part below the brow protector are not like any Ray Bans I have seen, if Ray Ban they will have very small markings(saying Ray Ban, and maybe other info) on the curved piece.

the case I dont think is all that old, the old ones would have said Bausch & Lomb, than Ray-Ran under, if old(like 40-60) the inside of the case would be green felt with a wooden center piece

yeah I kinda got a Ray Ban issue.....

could you imagine being pulled over and the cop finding something like that..

Landpimp, I was gonna check, but I seem to have misplaced the glasses last night. I sort of remember showing them to a friend... Another side note is Bill Yarlott who bought your 45 brand new always wore aviators and I think you have a photo on your site of him that way. The other guy I worked with that bought a 45 new in '67 was Cliff Dickson in Cohasset Ma. He always wore aviators too. I considered it a sign when I found them... oh and that owners manual? I think I actually found that in Bill's truck.

I bought my FJ60 from New Orleans and had it shipped to Indy.

Upon cleaning it out, we found a chameleon family who wound up living with us for a few months in an aquarium as well as about a half ounce of some really old and moldy herbage.

Funny thing when my then four year old daughter pulled it out from the front door pocket asking me if the chameleons ate it to survive......LOL

Nice score Gary

I found the original owners manual in my 76 FJ 40 and a whole bunch of old survey stuff.

I found the factory spot light. Wife showed it too me and then threw it away along with about 4lbs of Rat Turds.

Great thread! Sort of a "what's the coolest thing you ever found in your 40?"

My 40 did have the original owner's manual and it was in good shape, too. A few months after buying it, I talked to the PO and he gave me the original tool roll. I think about half of the tools are in the kit. No grease gun, though. I'd like to have a stock old '40 grease gun.

C'mon Trollhole, what'd you find? Give it up now!

well how interesting, see when I was a kid(teens) I wore Aviators, then stoped......but soon after your ole 45 came home to my place......we were out hitting garage sales(in the 45) and I found a set.....been wearing them(or one of the other 5+ pairs I have picked up) since then

so you will be sending the manual my way? (got 1-2 of them, so just kidding)

I have the warantee card for Bills truck(when in Napa CA) and some other stuff that came with it(including the pics)
