How much Rust Bullet for a frame?

I've spent the last hour or so reading old POR and Rust Bullet posts, but I still don't know how much "paint' is needed to cover a frame. (I did find out that a quart will do the whole underside of a body.)

I'm planning to get some Rust Bullet and the black top coat, but before I order anything, can someone tell me how much I'll need to cover a frame. Will two pints of Rust Bullet do the job?

2 pints should do it you want to do at least a couple of coats. Also it is good to order it in pints so you don't risk so much in a spill or hardening up on you.

I believe I used 2 quarts on my frame. This was a couple coats. I sprayed it on with a cheap HVLP sprayer

I just ordered a quart of Por-15 ecapsulator and a quart of por -15 chasis for top coat. I plan to hvlp it next week i can let you know for sure then. Dont know how big of a hurry you are in

Superfly - 2 pints (one quart) should do it. Get 3 pints as insurance, or in case you want to spray 3 coats. To be really sure, if you are going to use brushes to coat up the boxed sections, get 4 pints since it will take about a pint to do 2 coats on the interior sections. If you do all that, you won't need the Black Shell - you can just use a good quality chassis black paint over the RB (within 48 hours to topcoat without sanding). Alternatively, you can use the silver bullet for the first (and second) coat(s), then top coat with RB Black Shell for the final rust proofing coat.

Make sure there is no loose gunk or rust and no grease or oil on it; DO NOT attempt to thin the RB with water contaminated thinner, even if you don't know the thinner is contaminated. Ask me how I know

I'm not in a hurry -- I'm getting some mounts and other stuff taken care of next week, then I plan to use Rust Bullet or POR.

Based on everyone's responses, I'll order two pints (in separate containers).

I just ordered a quart of Rust Bullet yesterday from Summitt Racing (free shipping!).

I confirmed by calling Rust Bullet that the Black Shell is not necessary, overkill IMO. I'm going to use some black rustoleum or similar product.

Just one question to other posters...how do you thin RB to spray thru a sprayer?

BTW...I've never sprayed anything. Admittedly I'm a novice.

If you get the automotive version (silver label) you don't need to thin it - it's ready to spray. If you get the standard version (gold label), you need to thin it with MEK (or toluene or xylene) to spray - about 8% seems to work very well. Make sure the thinner is clean... NO water! Really!

When I Rust Bulleted my chassis I used 1 Ltr of the Gold Label - this allowed me to apply 2 coats.

I used Xylene to thin and clean the equipment, I thinned the RB by about 15% this was absolutely essential as it was much too thick to spray.

I cant remember pints and quarts anymore, but I think 1 ltr is about 1 qrt

I brushed mine on and used about 1.5 quarts
