I need a little Advice :)

Allright then, I have a 75 FJ40 with the stock F2 or whatever, and it's got hedders on it, original cam etc... yadda yadda nothing special...

I bought a Webber 2V from one of mud's members and for $75 bucks I got a great deal. The carb is fairly new, but the guy used it like a trooper and there was sand in every orifice in the carb.

So I am rebuilding this carb and I CANNOT find a kit or carb # to get a PROPER kit for it :( :(

Got one kit from Car Quest and there are only 5 Damn pieces in it!

2 gaskets , one diaphragm, one needle and seat set adn a little o-ring...

WTHF is that all about? I need the 3 fingered diaphragm also but nobody in this damn town even know's what the hell a friggin Webber is... Should I got buy a ford PINTO carb kit or go to the Local German car shop?

There are some #'s on this but nothing any of the fuctards I called could get anything from them. :(

So folks, What is a guy to do?

Also the Secondary Venturi set screw has the blade fully closed, shouldn't there be some secondary exposed to assist the A/F screw in metering the Idle controll?

I am not carb retarded, but on a Webber I can be considered so for this job.

Thanks!

FE

Maybe man-a-fre can help you . They carry the Webber stuff. The secondaries, I think, are supposed to act as you described. Webbers are set up progressive. It is important that you go through the set up procedure described by Webber. Have you seen the FAQ on this subject? load of info there.

Search weber carb tuning thread, there's someone on here who's pretty knowledgeable about it.

If you post a pic of the carb you have a better chance at someone helping you ID it.

More than likely if the carb was on a cruiser it is either a 32/36 or a 38MM carb, which are easy to tell apart. A local parts store will probably not have a kit for an aftermarket carb like a weber.
Once you ID the carb, then you can get the right kit. I think the last time I bought a rebuild kit for a weber I got it off ebay. Other places you can get a kit are JTO, Manafre, CCOT, and many others. Google is your firend!

LIttle prob... I don't have 2 weeks....

The carb is a 32/36, the kit's only come with a acc pump dia. the missing dia is the power valve diaphragm and the elec. choke diaphragm....

I'm just going to fudge this entire rebuild and re-use what I cannot find locally.

Sumbicchin webber 40mm carbs are the on the shelf commodity at the moment... Redline don't answer teh damn phone and they're the tards that SELL the webber carbs to the consumer

Later and thanks for the tips guy's!

Howdy! The Rochester 2 bl was/is a popular carb swap. I had one on my 72 FJ40. Worked good. Tune up parts and settings were usually based on mid 60s chevy 6 banger pickup trucks. I always used 1966 and never had a problem. Rebuild is easy and parts should be common in most stores. It could be you can get it running faster than you can figure out the weber. John
