Anybody know of a good option for a rear bench seat? I currently have the jump seats installed, but would like to have a bench seat to mount a childrens car seat to.

Thanks.

I put the child seat up front and the wife in the back!

Here in Switzerland I can't just redneck in a rear seat for the child. The seat mounts would have to be installed by a certified shop and the seat belts as well.

It sounds bureaucratic and painful, but the reasoning behind it is correct - the typical Joe doesn't have a clue how to do a proper job and not have the seat or seat belts rip out.

I'd really like to find a set of the 1984 (Australian) LX seats and use them, but they are very hard to come by.

The best option for a rear bench seat is an FJ55.
Seriously though, once you start having kids you gotta start thinking four doors.

You gotta point. I'm trying to make due until the wife's Trailblazer dies and we can possibly find an 80.

Happy trails with the family!

No need for a four door. I fit all three kids in this one. Two in car seats.

Middle seat in 1988 Dodge Caravan.

Just remove some hardware, fits perfect.

04 Trailblazer

I used the front seats from a 04'trailblazer. I will post some pictures and show how i mounted them in a separate post. The nice thing about them is that they have integrated seat belts. Downside is the backs are kind of high so you lose a little of your view out the back. That said, they are great for car seats, which need the high back to get a good fit.

Dudley - very nice - Like that bench seat - what year did you get it out of!

Transverse rear seats?

Hi guys after reading this thread I re-read the BJ-42 manual. Pg 50 of the manual shows what is called the folding rear transverse type seats. Not a single bench seat or two bench seats that face each other but two separate single seats that sit on opposite sides of the vehicle facing forward. These seats fold forward like a clam shell and then flip up out of the way against the sides. Has anyone ever seen a set? Is there a part number for it?

P.S, Dudley, that rear seat looks soo cushy. I bet the kids just love it.

Jabxyz, I saw seats like that on a bj4x for sale like 6 months ago. I think it was bjcruiserimports.com, but not sure. I have no idea how you would get them, but they looked sweet. I've got a kid on the way and I am also trying to figure what I can do to make it safe in the back. Mud is awesome!:)

Awesome! I thought the ones I remembered were zebra striped!

I got a forward facing bench seat in the back of one of mine.

Fits in between the wheel wells and is attached via four stout angle pieces bolted to the sides of each well.

I believe it to be out of an early Bronco. It's got two plastic arm rests, one on either side.

The good is it comes out by removing four 1/2" bolts.

The bad is it doesn't fold, leaves very little storage space behind, and sits very low.

I just installed one from a 2 door Suziki sidekick/ chevy tracker fits perfectly, got mine from a wrecker for 50 bucks including all hardware and seatbelts.
and they fold and tumble to get out of the way. to bad they don't come right out easily

Note : very little leg room, ok for kids or short rides for adults

These are what I was thinking of looking at for forward facing jump seats: Exmoor Trim & Trakkers - Land Rover Interior Trim, Hood and Seat Specialists

Look under either the Series or 90/100 Rovers for load area seats.

The forward facing lock and load will take a child safety seat. Since they are for a Land Rover, I don't think the mounting would be too tough to put into an FJ40. For for the money I think I will go for the Rampage split and fold.
