This is my current master cylinder - discs at all four corners and I was thinking of upgrading to this....

Issue...
I wanted to get a bit more responsive breaking and I read the larger bore could make a difference. It looks like a direct bolt and replace, but is there anything I am missing. New to disc brakes mods.

What are you using for the proportioning valve?
You might need a residual valve for the rears. __________________ KB1OSF '87 Toyota xcab SR5 - SAS'd, stuff '98 Lexus ES300 '04 Toyota Highlander |

Prop valve & Residual
According to Marlin, this have residual valves for both front and rear - so I am hoping I am okay.
Regarding the prop valve - the current system doesn't seem to have one and after doing some reading I didn't think the were need in every case. I thought this was a drive and see how it brakes then add as need. Am I wrong? __________________ Joe Brooklyn, NY 67' FJ40 |

Just for clarity, you want the master cylinder for a FZJ80, not an FJ80. It should be a bolt on. One suggestion. While you can bend the line at the front of the master cylinder to match, it's easier to just boneyard the line from a mini-truck/4Runner with the same side outlet.
What's interesting is the FZJ80 brake master I bought from Toyota looks different than the one Marlin sells. the one i got from JTOutfitters looks just like the one pappy posted (i was told it was from an FZJ80) but i didnt install the proportioning valve and as was stated i just bent my line to make it line up. it has worked great so far (about 5 years) stops on a dime and in a straight line. oh and i also upgraded the front calipers to 4runner calipers for better front stopping power.

I did the 80 master from marlin and a dual diaphram mini booster, the dual booster made a HUGE difference, brakes are super responsive now.......

Wow...if you search...FJ80 Master Cylinder is mis-used all over the place...including Marlin's ad.
