built myself a skidplate

Cross-post since it should apply equally well to the FJ40 and FJ55:

Well that looks pretty stout Mark. How much are you gonna be charging for those?

184 views and 1 comment. Amazing.

Thanks Jeremy, but I don't have an interest in marketing them. I am going to help Art bring them to market. I like to encourage others to bring products to market [as you well know]. Hopefully he will have an answer on $$ in a couple of weeks.

We're currently researching the price on some heavier guage tubing to factor into the equation, and exploring a u-finish version kinda like a metaltech kit.

Best

Mark A.

Ya, I get that shit alot too. I think they're skeered.

Everyone likes a u-finish priced product. Keep up the good work. Steel pricing is outrageous nowadays.

I can foresee a slider in my future as well, thanks for the inspiration. And thanks for the encouragement as well man, good luck to you and Art.

I'll PM ya with some possible future dealings that we had previously discussed.

Jeremy

Mark,

Looks very beefy, should keep that case safe from large rocks.

Cool to see the pics.

Where is Art's shop going to be and is he open yet?

i build myself one not too long ago and the next day i high centered and shredder the driveshaft. if i hadnt had that skidplate id be looking for a new split case as well as a driveshaft. i think it was the best thing i built out of scrap in a long time haha.

looks tight. I have wondered why there were not more kits like this for cruisers. Even with all of the drivetrain options out there, a kit like this is pretty easilly modified to work.

Indeed. I don't think that I've saved a whole bunch on weight, but I know it's saved a good bit on ground clearance, which is at a premium on a rig running 32" tires! I think it also offers better air circulation than the factory plate. This isn't as much of an issue on the 45 as on the 40.

The 40 series Flowmaster on my 40 got my floorboards up to 165 degrees two summers ago with the ConFerr plate on it!

Looks great Mark - I like the fact that it isn't as much of a weed/grass/brush collector and potential fire hazard. My custom exhaust is a little warm on the throttle foot as well so heat dispersion and beefy design are high on my design criteria list as well

So...how much and who to contact for the tubing bent and shipped?? I can source angle and drill holes and weld - experimenting with a tubing bender at today's prices is not something I look forward to.
