Yeah that got me puzzled. So I asked the parts guy the other day and he mentioned the same thing about the A/C option.....defrosters were not installed if came with factory A/C. But it seems to me that you see more of them after 79.

That would be a good deal but you better look at it or get someone you trust to make sure its what you want. (rust, bondo etc.)

So you are saying Just 79's with factory A\C didn't come with defrosters?

My May 79 came with factory AC and defrost vents but not PS. That looks like the factory AC to me. The AC electrical wiring is part of the factory harness since it was not dealer installed so it is very easy to determine if it has factory AC beyond all the tell tale signs that truck has.

Your parts guy is wrong. I have a truck that has all three, from the factory. Defrost vents, PS and A/C are completely unrelated in terms of factory build. Yes-78s had them and plenty of non-PS/PS, AC/Non-AC and all combinations from 79-83 were equipped or not. It's not a technical question, its a marketing/sales question.

I too have all three, and have seen a lot of 40's with all three. I was just trying to figure out what his parts guy was smoking.

Not all came with the defrosters. My 78 doesn't have them but 2 of my buddies had 78's that had them.???

That was my intial response...that the 79 on up had them but Bull mentioned mentioned early on this thread that his78 had it. So I asked the parts guy to look it up and he said defrost vents go back as far as 76. Got me?? have no idea what he was smoking. I will ask again when I see him........the smoking part.
