| Build thread - '84 Bj42 from Iceland (bunch o' pix) Afternoon,
Just wanted to show you guys my cruiser, I'm from Iceland, and our jeeps are set up for Snow driving, not rock crawling.
My rig is currently "under construction" I'm replacing/patching most of the bod panels because of rust.. I'm also going to Cut the truck in half behindthe doors and extending.
I started working on it 05. April, And since then almst nothing hsa happened! Shame isn't it.. Bloody exams!
5spd, No leaf springs, only coils, 4-link in the back, cruiser setup in the front.
Cb radio, VHF radio, NMT phone, GPS, CD and 38" Mudders
Plans are:
70cm Extension, fixing body (Wich is mostly made of bondo and rust atm), Painting (not sure what color maybe dark grey, any ideas welcome!)
39,5" Irok's mounted on 14" wide 15" high rims, ARB lockers front n' back, crawl gear, minimum 250l diesel capcity.
Tuuurbo!
Before:
Me, My dad's 44" 100, and his brother's 38" tacoma

| G'day Klaufi,
Probably a bit late now, but have you looked at the Aqualu aluminium tub? It will never rust, is lighter than the steel tub, and you can paint it any colour you want as long as you use an acid-etch primer. You can also special-order a longer tub, if you want. I helped a friend of mine put one on his FJ40, and it was very easy to do.
Does Iceland salt the roads, or do they just use gravel? When we were in Denmark, they seem to salt the roads until they turn white again.
Cheers,
Josh |

| Thanks, I did onsider a aqualu tub, talked to the guys and tehy were willin to build me a longer one.. But shipping was so darn expensive! doubledthe price of th tub, and thenthere were customs nd taxes..
So there that went out of the window.
I willfabricate new rear sides and also the sides under the doors, and extendind this body is easy peezy lemon squeezy!
They do salt the roads alot here in Iceland! At least in Reykjavik (main city) and the towns around reykjavik, But i think other town's in iceland don't salt thereroads.
Pics will keep coming, with time.. Ifi know me right they will be coming for a long time |

Looks good. You should oil the undercarriage for rust/corrosion prevention.

| Well,
If any1 has the slightest interest, i have a few pics of things that have happened the last few months (not much, had a pretty bad rally crash and haven't worked on it since)
Over the last week, i cut it in half, extended the frame tomorrow i will make new body mounts (both frame and bodyside) Then i'm looking for a new rear bumper desing, going to make me a new bumber before i start building the tub up, since it sits on the bumper anyhow..
Well, few pics now, rest when i get my ass out to the garage to take them
P.s. This is going to be a revised version of the neverending story, comparing to prgoress over time..
Thanks,
Eyfi |
