Not much progress lately as i am still waiting on a bunch of parts. The last thing i ordered were the 4x4 labs arms which are made to order and came from the other side of the country yet i got those first??.Anyway the aussie locker, steering arms and motor mounts came but these are useless to me until the axle parts come.I'll post up some pics of the arms,if youve never seen their steering parts let me tell you they are like overkill beefy.Hopefully the rest of my stuff comes in tomorrow.

Nice!! I am right behind you i am sitting bare frame and only one front hanger cut off due to running out of &$#^ing oxygen. I was hoping you could tell me why you or someone else could tell me why you and a lot of others go with the front hanger about on inch forward of the end of the frame...??? The reason i ask is .. do you have to?? I was hoping i could go flush loosing an inch of wheelbase and then flipping my springs around and gaining all plus more back. Everyone seems to do it your way and i just wondered why?? I am collecting pics to start a thread but now i am like @%& you are going to be hard to keep up with!!!!!! I spent my money on a stroker...............

Actually, I like the Subaru! You have got to be kidding me! You have to say you have done this before, studied 10 years at a Buddist retreat or something. because you have the best pictures I've EVER seen in a thread.

Basically part following others lead and part slight wheel base extension without flipping springs.I also have my springs set on the forward hole of the perches.I dont see any reason why you cant go flush myself, but people who have done it more than me do it the other way .

as nice as the 40 is coming along....your subaru rocks.

seriously. That is fantastic.

I have seen those older ones DEEP in the woods up here. Nothing funnier than wheeling all day, thinking your truck is pretty tough, and having three yahoos with kids in the car putting by you in beat, jacked up subarus.

Ok getting pretty pissed off .

Waited like 3 weeks now and apparently according to ups my package has "experienced an exception" due to Adverse weather conditions. It has been in ups possession for like 2 weeks now and has not moved from current location in like 3 days should have been here like monday at the latest!.Wondering if my box full of goodies is now floating down the mississippi river?? or not so much floating since its like $900 worth of sweet metal parts.

Worst part is i have a non movable cruiser sitting on my lift and i have customers wanting to get work done on their cars, luckily i do carpentry as well but still this is pissing me off.And to boot ups doesnt speed up a shipment due to crap like this so nothing will happen this weekend even if they are able to....hey UPS

Well after all this time (i know ,not really that long) i have my rig back to a rolling state again. Ring and pinions are done as well as all associated bearings.Had a hang up for a bit but was just my own ignorance.Got the aussi locker installed in the rear and all new seals and bearings in the rear axle as well.Other than that just rebuilt the front...bearings,knuckle seals, ect.

Just need to get another rear pinion seal as i frigged up the first one, and get some new rotors for the front.I think my next needed step is to get my rod ends and make my drag link and tie rod, then shocks, then rear disks, then start the fuel injection project

Here is a few update pics:

Boxes of fun....for hours!

4x4 labs steering arms:

Rear:

Tearing apart precision stuff

Current state:

And nothing more.

Ok progress time .

Got the new pinion seal in and filled the diffs with oil. Then spent the day getting the motor back in (Bitch!!!).Was a PITA because the damn frame is so high now and my engine lift sucks balls.Anyway i got that done and started doing some cleaning, can you say caked with shit?I swear there was stuff that i thought was parts on my trans that was actually just 35 year old crap lol. Well here is how it sits with the big heavy on there (about 1/2" lower than before).

Thats right,my frame clears a full size trash can LOL!!

Homemade outer seal plate (whatever its called)

Homemade turn stops and shock mounts:crappy pic!

thats what i got for today.

Very nice project.

I built my Got Trics Bender back in '03 and still haven't used it. I still need to buy some dies. I did pick up a air/hydro 8 ton ram to operate it about a month ago. I just put it in my engine hoist to play with it. Check your local Checker/Kragens auto stores (if you have them out there). They have the air/hydro jack replacements on clearance for ~$17.

I'm not sure about your Saginaw box plate. Lot's of forces from that box. I'm in the process of removing the factory frame horn boxing and re-boxing it with new steel. I ordered the mounting bracket from Downey Off-Road, cause I don't feel like making my own. I think I'd flush mount the main plate to the frame horn then space off of that. Though wiith the position of your front spring hangers you may not have the clearance. I have a full width Chevy axle on the front and the extra tall high steer arms and my tie-rod and drag link just barely clear. Flatter pitman arm was my friend.

Thought of that but to lazy...you know how much air those tires hold

I'd rather a 1000 lb block of iron dangling above my face with the hoist creaking as chinese welds give way to deathdom
