inclinometer in a 40? *** See post 14 for example
Has anyone mounted a 4Runner or JDM inclinometer in a 40 series? I had one in my old 4Runner 10 years ago and it always attracted attention.
I could not find anything in the 40 tech section when I searched. Last edited by D-Cannon; 04-29-08 at 09:07 PM. |

Not quite
Thanks, but I was thinking of the type that came OEM on 1st gen 4Runner Sr5s. JDM FJ60 and Prados have nice ones as well, with incline, tilt and an altimeter.
Has no one retrofitted one of these to a 40? |

West Marine has that stuff too. Even on the sailboat we never paid any attention to it.

I have one on my dash. I want to put somewhere for uphill/downhill, but I don't now where I want to mount it. The passenger door would be ideal, but I run without doors in the summer. Might wind up mounting it on the roll cage bar that's over the passenger door.

There is one on e-bay, it is like the old SR5 4Runner units but smaller, check out e-bay motors under FJ40. There is a web sit that has TLC stuff that sells them as well but right now I can't remember the name.

They also came in Tercel 4WD's. I wish mine had one but it wasn't offered that year.

This is the only other pic i have right now, all i did was make a mounting plate from aluminum and attach to the dash with 2 screws from below. (Note that I do not have the factory dash pad) Then just run the lighting wire to the instrument lights.

I had one of these in my last truck. It had truck pics rather than a heep, but this was the first I could find quickly. They shouldn't be more than $30. They have a built in backlight. Anyway, It never did much good except scare the passenger when we went past 30*. Should be easy enough to put one in the dash.

Thanks for all of the replies.
I appreciate everyone's input. I know about all the types of inclinometers out there, though. What I would really like to see/read are more examples of the OEM 1st gen 4runner (only) clinometers that are now installed in 40s. We have a nice example of one so far... anyone else?
