Swapping shifter covers

I have and h41 that I need to swap from a later AL cover to an early cast cover. This moves the shifter hole forward. Is there a problem just swaping covers or am I going to have to do something in the internals?

thanks,
-Al

Post some pics. I've never seen an aluminum top cover.

They might be found on late model 40 series but. The AL covers are found on all fj60s, they move the shifter back 3 inches or so. Ill see if I have a pic offhand.
