Do I need a fuel pump spacer?

I bought my 40 with a jerry-rigged electric pump, the old mechanical fuel pump was plugged off and still on the block. I bought a new mech. fuel pump and it says something about an isolator? The old fuel pump didnt have anything but a gasket? Thanks...

Andy

The isolator looks like a thick gasket around 3-4mm you can see mine here it's still white and clean

It's going to depend on your year and production date. Easiest way to check is to look online at spector's offerings, or check with your dealer.

x2. If you get new design pump, you will need the new mounting bolts. I ran into the same problem, I had a block-off plate installed by the PO, and when I got the newer pump, the bolts that were on there, no workie, and I assume that they were the original bolts crica 1976

All I have is a gasket on mine, no isolator.

Use Specter for a reasearch tool for your make/model/year, then hit up Cruiser Dan for the actual parts.

I my 2F, later style pump (same as Matts) the pump would not fit without the spacer.

I recently replaced mine and asked the same thing, I have a '78 2F and there was no spacer, I replaced the pumpe, did not put in a spacer, and it works just fine.

My 2F has the older style fuel pump (the one with an alloy cast top) and it does not need a spacer.
