I just wanted to know if someone could tell me the length's of the inner and outer shafts on the 30 spline Long fields, both driver and passenger side. I'm up North working right now and have limited access to the net to search for this info. I know that my 72 has disc's and 30 spline birfs right now and would like to order some Longfield before I get home . Can some one please help me . Thank you.

I believe he only makes one width for a '40, so unless you have some weird fj60 axle in there, you shouldn't need to measure. If you swapped in a '76-'78 axle and you still have the long birfs, you're going to need some different lock-outs. The Longfields are only guaranteed for life if you use Aisin hubs with Long's chromo hub gears in any case.

Surely he'd guarantee them if I'm running his 4340 drive slugs as i didn't see any reference to that statement on his web site, only his recommendation not to run any tires over 39".

Order up a 30 spline super-set and two chromo lockout gears for your FJ40 from Long and call it good.

cast Marfields = Newfields = Longfields = minitruck (bell diameter and shaft length)
Front Inner Axle Shafts

FJ60/2 short side same as FJ40 short side ~ 17-1/4"
FJ60/2 long side same as minitruck long side (79-85) ~ 31-7/16"
Minitruck short side fine spline ~ 15-5/16"
FJ40/55 long side fine spline (68-83) ~ 29-1/8"
P/N for inner axle seal = Chicago Rawhide #12810 (NAPA)
