OK Here Is My Truck, A 1981 BJ42 . I Got It From A Car yard Over 11 Years Ago With 166k On The Clock (Now Still Only Has 209k). It Was Stock As A Rock And In Perfect Cond. Gradualy It Has Gone From A Touring 4 Wheeler To A Fun Machine With Turbo, Lockers Ect. It Was Originally A Hard Top But Now Is A Soft Top Although I Did Try A Hard Top On Recently But Didn't Like It.

As it stands now
1981 BJ42 Landcruiser
3b diesel
AXT turbo
Front Roberts vacuume lock
Rear Old style ARB air locker
XD 9000 winch
Bucket seats (Holden Commodore)
15 inch sports steering wheel
Roll bar (2008 to have full cage)
Fast back soft top
Bikini top
Rattle can paint job
Leaves removed for more flex
Power steering using OEM box and saginaw pump

This is how it was not long after i got it about 11years ago, mainly used for camping touring etc...

Then I joined 3rdRock4x4 club (no longer a member) and met a few nice people who encouraged me and I learned a lot from in terms of mods to do and driving style. So the truck got used more for fun but suffered a lot of panel damage which was part of the fun

My first entry level comp where I came first in my class

I'll take you for a spin in a real Turbo soon

BJ's lockers were a steal and he got easy terms on them, but soon learned they came at a price.

The front is actually a Roberts Locker which ARB bought the rights to and has an external air cylinder to actuate it. The rear is a early 4 bolt ARB.

Both are over 10 years old and fully operational.

Its been a testing relationship today , whilest replacing the tie rod ends and putting on my Angry tyres the left hand front hub was moving around way to much, turned out that the bottom Knucle bearing had colapsed and also chewed out the part it sits on. SO its sitting in the naughty corner now.

Yeah she does get tired of me getting her into awkard situations, so a lie down seems to be the only way out.

Turbo was fitted by AXT here in OZ a few years ago, they are not to far from me.

Hi All:

Thanks for the great "ROTW" photos!

Like your custom rear swing-out half-door! So, what happened to the ARB bull bar featured in the early photos of the rig? Did you not like how large it was?

Regards,

Alan

In the early days, pre turbo, I wanted to remove as much weight as possible, so front and rear bars went...

I like that style of top too but it does have it's draw back when it comes to loading up for camping.

BJ, however many parts you borrow your always welcome here, also you maybe needing this.
