I wasen't running it that hard, just climbing a steep hill on my farm. When it poped I thought it was the Warn hub.
Oh well it's just $$

why dont you just give bobby a call and ask if he will warranty it? due to the break im sure he would warranty it but its gotta be the chromo set for it to be a warranty is what i believe is correct.

I wasn't aware that some "Longs" were non-chromo

That's what I thought. Those are some old Gen 2 birfs. Gen 3 were similar without as much print-I have a set of those and a set of the 30 spline longs. To be honest, I didn't know what the 27 spline chromo longs looked like.
There was a problem with a batch of those early non-OEM Longfields I think. My guess is that Bobby will take care of you. Good luck.

Thanks for the info.
I will call Monday and see what they say. If they don't warranty it I won't bitch. What I said was true, when it poped I was not doging it.
But to be honest I would have to admit... I run that truck hard.
Ok..Ok..I run the out of it!
I love it so

Looks like this will be expensive to fix. You may want to ask your wife what she thinks. Hopefully they will be under warranty so she can buy stuff for her Cruiser. LOL

Wait a min... Newfields are made buy CV Unlimited.
Longfields are a different Company.
Do you know for sure what brand it was?

Yeah, it was brand new in a newfield box with a newfield part number. If i was at home i would post a pic for comparison, the bell is still there its just kinda of adjusted in an explosive manner.
Was the outer stub of the birf smooth and shiny, or did it have the same ribbed machined finish as a stocker? The latter is how the non-chromo newfields come.

Well... I made a few calls today... "EMPI" is a Newfield. EMPI also means they were made in Japan, they are stock replacements (not OEM) but copys. They sell 2 different grades what I have and a cromo.
Another way to tell a Newfield is the sticker wraped around the shaft
It's probably a good thing the prick who sold them to me (AS LONGFIELDS!!) is on the other side of the country, I would have to go pay him a visit!!!

Hey...you were right. And yes it does have the ribbed finish on it, I compaired it to a stock birf I have laying around with all my junk.
Thank you for the info.

At least you now have a cool paper weight. Im thinking it would make a good shop fridge handle.
Im still running one of my newfields, im not sure its gonna make it past the fall crawl. We shall see. At this point i have more faith in my low mileage stocker.
BTW it might be nice to know the handle of the bad seller so people could avoid him in the future. I know i was pissed when i realized mine werent chromo, but he never actually said they were so it was a little life lesson for me.

I think they call that the weak link. Better than a pinion or transfer right?
