I might be going through a heater restoration myself.

The problem that I have is that the valve that is on the firewall to feed the heater core is in terrible condition. I can't justify paying the money folks are asking for the valve. Has anyone found a viable solution the is a "jerry fix", but works well?

There are many commercial valves on the market. Ball type work well

I could.

But you know the core is it's own animal and that model only. Is your core good?

yeah my core is perfect no leaks or anything, it's the shutters for my defrost that are causing most of the problems. I can still feel quite a bit of air coming out the bottom when I have it on defrost.

If I put something together for you, please take the internal shade vent and have it glass beaded or tanked. ONLY paint this do NOT powder coat it.

Let me see what I can do.

I'm lazy. I just ran a new piece of hose and by-passed the valve...

I would also like a kit for my '66. I have it out and I am about to tear it down. My core is not leaking, but I have yet to take a look at it.

Shane, have my heater box ready to restore BUT all the heater box ducts are crap; the rubber is over 30 years old and need to find a way to get the hot air to the appropiate vents without it leaking everywhere! any ideas or alternatives for the heater box ducts?

Alternative hot air source:

Sit the nagging wife in the front seat.

OK, the CFO agrees to either a heater rebuild or a front seat cover from Shane...........with it being 31F outside she is going for the heater box...........NOW, the question I have is............. what to do for new ducts?.............SOR has them; but even if they are NOS they are still around 30 years old at least and just hate the idea of putting in a nicely rebuilt heater box thanks to Shane with my crappy duct hoses barely held together with duck tapeany suggestions on duct replacement options?? TIA

Shane, my old heater is out and draining and will go out to you this week.

Interesting heater removal discovery, when I pulled the heater out, I found a little nest in the lower chamber where some critters took up residence for the winter

Shane,

Will you rebuild the heater from a 66 FJ40?

Hello All
I have a 5/75 FJ-40. What color should the front heater be painted? Semi gloss black?
Thanks
Peter
