Jims doors at SROR, are SOLID, and well laid out. You can't go wrong with those puppies!

Great! seems to come up often enough these days.. nice to have a central place to go for tube door data.
AND, since MT seems to be the only ones really doing them (at the time of this post), I finally tracked down some hinges - stripped and painted them up - and ordered the MT doors Monday. So, after years of searching on this topic and calling Jeep tube door makers and such, I will finally own a pair myself! will post up a full install and photos when I get them this weekend.

not just searching, but I have been staying on top of this specific topic for years now... trying to keep it going (calling and emailing jeep tube door makers and researching all the claimed and rumored FJ40 tube door makers, etc) and praying someone would step up and make them for the 40 like they do for the Jeeps (which have about 5 styles to select from and are dirt cheap in price due to mass production).
watch for my MT tube door install coming soon.

yup. M/T beat me to them.
i need to budget my time better for new products.
tube doors went on the back burner after the rear 60 bumper took off!!
but in the process i took a poll on how you all wanted them to mount to the hinge.
seemed like no one wanted to use the factory hinge that bolts to the door.
so alot of work went into designing a pin mount.
looks like a re-design on the hinge is in store and i'll make the latch as simple as possable and change my pricing.
so it looks like simple is better in the door biz.

I loved your design. one of my fav's I saw. BUT... you never went into production on them - I think you got into bumpers IIRC. we even exchanged a few PM's a few times way back to see if you would make me a pair.. but never heard back on moving forward. :( I like them though.

pencil me in - if possible, I would like them to match up to stock hinge and stock striker so I can keep my hard doors, too

I second that. I really like the pin mounting design as well. I think it looks a lot cleaner.

The reason why we went with the door hinge design was for mis alignment issues. We all know that every 40 is not straight no matter how clean it is. After 30 years of road abuse sheet metal is going to tweak. Using the door hinge allows for the most adjustment, so if one side is a 1/8" off then you can make up for that.

Very good point. I would think with a pin design you could still have an adjustment point although I fully understand this would add more cost to the final product.

Well then you would have to make it up in the latching mechanism. We also allowed for adjustment on that as well. So lots of room to mess around to get the door in the "sweet" spot.

Man oh man. My brother has been trying to get me to make him a set for about 4 years now and I haven't even tried. Maybe next summer....(im in school)
heres another picture..

I have had this set on 3 different cruisers and they have all lined up perfectly. I would doubt that a cruisers door pins and strikers would be off enough (even after 30 years of abuse) to where this design wouldn't fit, unless wrecked or rolled or some kind of physical abuse. And on top of how easy it is to install, they are real strong. I weigh 185lbs and can hang on them all day and the alignment would never be off.

mt doors
i have had mine on for 2 weeks now and love them. also freinds think they are great. as lt said there is room for adjusting. it took me a while to mount them as i started with the drivers side. finally went to the pass. and it worked well (except the handle needed some grinding).
turned out my drivers side was tweeked more than i ever realized. used a hilift to push the top side near the latch out and now fits well. must say that although i thought there would be rattles, there none so far.
also the truck is much staighter now
