Wiring help needed.

I have put off the wiring long enough on my 40. This is ALL I need to get it on the road now. Its been 2+ years of wrenching, welding and swearing and I need your help to get it working properly. So here is the scenario:

72 FJ40. All switches are stock (Hazard, fan, etc.) 78 FJ40 wiring harness. Im going to post some pics of connectors Im stumped by. A lot of them worked with the older connectors, while some did not. Im sure some of them are going to go to useless emission boxes and whatnot, so thats no big deal.

Stuff like the fan, turn signals, ammeter (Im running a 12si with factory alt. serving as an idler pulley.) reverse lights, and the damn ACC circuit in the engine compartment that I cant find. Im using the ACC circuit with a relay and the battery to run a new bank of fuses. Right now it was switched and caused the electric fuel pump to push past the needles and pump gas into the oil pan through the intake, but thats another story all together that took the 40 out of commission for a few weeks.

Im looking to you guys to help me out. I'd like to get my rig on the road asap. The weather is going to be semi-nice this week.

Ultimately, if there were someone near me with a 40 who would want to hang out and have a few beers with me while I look over their rig would be best.

Thanks,
Rob

You should probably get the schematic for the 78 and 72 and compare. There are a ton of "extra" circuits. I don't think the ammeter is the same (series vs shunt).

There are a large number of differences in the wiring between a '72 and a '78. I would prefer to make a new harness than try to make a '78 work in a 72.

You can identify what the connector goes to by its location and reading the color code on the wire and looking it up in the schematic.

You also have some non standard wiring issues like the 12Si that isn't going to work well with the stock wiring and the electric fuel pump problem. These are going to be custom circuits anyway.

Thanks guys. I have adressed the alternator this weekend as it was installed on friday.

I have a schematic for a 79 but not a 71. As I have said most of the stuff worked together but these have not. I'm looking to see if anyone has been into their harnesses like this before and can just let me know where these loose connectors attach.

You could take a look at mine but the PO did a hack rewire so I am not sure if it would be helpful but everything except the horn seems to work. I'm pretty close but I'm not sure I'm street worthy yet(rear brake line leaking).
