Shocks with a shackle reversal

I have shackle reversal with the front springs flipped. (similar to Man-A-Fre shackle reversal kit) Short side forward. Military wrap is on this side as well. Reversing the spring moves the front axle about 3"'s forward. Anyway this has always bound the shock bushing.
What have people done to correct this? are the pins pressed into the shock mounts? If so I could probably have the shock pin on the other side and that would help some.

Should I have the shock mounts cut off and redone?

Let me know what you have done. Pictures are always helpful.

Thanks
Dave

Don't know if this will help any. When I got my Cruiser it had the Advanced Land Cruiser Handeling sr on it. To say it was barely bolted on would be an understatement, as EVERYTHING moved when you turned the wheel. In investigating what to do, I found the MAF kit, which looked simular except they flipped the front hangers so they sloped back, instead of forward. I read there directions, pulled mine apart, flipped the front hangers and springs, and moved the rear frame mounted hanger forward to get a decent shackle angle. The axel stayed in the same spot. I positioned the front hangers even with the front of the frame. Pic's in recent ROTW, but with different suspension. HTH, Al

I originally had the advanced handling bolted on kit as well. very scary ride. The new set up is great. Just had not delt with the shocks yet. I like the extended wheel base with flipped springs.

Dave-I cut the old towers out and used the Ford towers. When you mock it up, it's pretty easy to see the right position and angle for the tower. That will allow you to use a longer shock too, which will keep the angles a bit cleaner at the bushings.

One side effect, though, is that it is likely you will need to cut off your axle shock mount and replace with something stronger. I used these:

Thanks Andrew. I was looking at that as an option as well. I have to look at my engine compartment to see if the towers will fit. I have a dual battery tray on the passenger side that takes up a lot of room.
