Help! Turbo build problem!

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out - I just finished putting a turbo on my BJ40, and just fired her up tonight. I haven't taken it out on the road yet, but standing still I have very little boost and there's oil coming from somewhere. I have checked all my fittings and they're all good - it looks like its coming from the exhaust. Does this mean that there's a cooked seal in the turbo? I have the oil into the turbo tee'd into the oil supply line right from the oil pump, and the return line to the return line on the oil pump. Please tell me its something simpleand not a problem with the turbo! Its a big job getting it on and off...

you might have better luck in the diesel tech and 24 volt systems forum are on this forum. they will most likly be able to help you out a lot better then the 2F and and V8 people that are usually in the 40 section... but if you ask enough you will someone in here to help you but just an idea to post this question in that section of the forum.

sounds like the turbo seal if its comming ut of the exhaust. Is it 2nd hand?

also check that the copper washers on supply and return lines are seated or there. Dont know what pressures the oil pump run, usualy you tee the turbo prssure line to the to the oil psi sender. You shouldent have any probs getting psi at the pump though. Check that you dont have any pressuer at the return line going to the turbo.

Pull your charge air plumbing and inspect for oil. If you have oil coming from the exhaust then more than likely you have a seal problem and oil in the intake charge side will make you 100% sure.

It is second hand, yes. It came off a Nissan SRT20 with about 50,000k on it. There are no copper washers - I bout aluminum fittings from Mopac that supposedly don't need them, and the fittings are fine - there's no oil coming from there. Its definitely coming from the exhaust. Seals then?

Did you pull the intake boost piping off to see if there is any signs of oil there?

Turbo rebuild time. Not hard to do if you can find a kit.
