Putting the side view mirror head on?

I am trying to put an oem mirror head back on the original arms. Any body have an easy way to do this?

Take the mount off the door, put it flat on concrete and have someone stand on the door mount part to hold it down. Put a little butter in the plastic socket and take the screws all the way out. It will go on. Wipe out the butter, reinstall the screws, careful not to strip the screw heads; you have to get them really tight. Use the right size screw driver. Reinstall on the door. Voila.

A nice olive oil flavoured margerine works too, with less cholesterol : )

after you get the head back on, pour hot water in the slot where the head and arm connect to get rid of the slick. Your mirror will move if you don't.
