Question Seats

I just recently bought a 1970 FJ40 which has 5 point racing seats in it. I would be fine with these seats except for the fact that I'm too wide for them. What are some of my options for replacing these seats? Are there any other bucket seats that would be a fairly easy drop-in replacement?

I used nissan TRX seats. Dont know weather you can get them in the states. Honda civic or simular would be a good choice for a wider racing style bucket.

I used a set of buckets from an '04 Chevy Cavalier. I modified the stock seat brackets slightly, and they bolted in with very little effort. If you already have custom seat brackets built it will probably be even easier to get them bolted up. Head to the junkyard and start sitting in different cars, then check out the mounting hardware to see how easy it will be to mount them.

I put two seats from a mid-90s Honda Civic ($50 for the pair
from the junkyard) in my 1972 Fj40.
They weren't quite bolt-in, but I managed to get them to mate to
the stock seat frames without welding or other major mods - just
some judicious hacksawing and drilling.

As Coyner says - just sit in some junkyard seats, find a pair that you like,
and you can probably make them work.
