Hello all,
My name is Ken Jansen from Abbotsford, BC and I have a 1980 BJ40. I completely restored the
truck about 3 years ago, and it was pristine for awhile, but its been beat up a little since then! The truck has a b engine which I had rebuilt when I bought the truck (before I knew better), so although it runs beautifully unfortunately its still a b! Anyway, I'm in the process of throwing a turbo on it, so that should help matters somewhat. I'm running 4.88 gears, ARB in the front, Detroit in the rear, and a slightly lower geared tcase (forget the model, but its an older style lc tcase). The body's not perfect anymore, but there's no rust, the frame is solid and I just redid all the body mounts. The interior is really nice, I have black leather Acura TSX seats, an industrial 24v to 12v power invertor to run my stereo, cb and gps (and my extra lights outside). I have a 24v Warn 8274 and a big ass front bumper! In the next couple of weeks I will hopefully be able to finish off the turbo, then I'm building some rock slider/nerf bars and expanding the stock roll bar into a cage with an overhead center console. I think thats about it. My occupation is in the computer industry (I'm an IT manager for a manufacturing company here), but I would rather be wrenching/fabbing my truck or out wheelin' for a living! I don't think thats realistic though...
