rear brakes

Replaced the wheel cylinders, drums, shoes on my 78 FJ40, bleed the brakes. Now I have to pump the brakes to get them to work. Also, when I push on the pedal you can see bubbles in the resevior and the fluid level goes up and down. It didn't do this before replacing the brakes. What gives?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you didn't bench bleed the master cylinder. Bleed the master, then each wheel including fronts starting with the left rear, ending with left front.

Have you adjusted the wheel cylinders?

Adjust your wheel cylinders and then bleed your rear brakes again.

Should take care of it.
