Does lower gear tranfer case affects 2Hi ratios?

Hello all!

Im putting a 3 speed transfer case with 2.31:1 low gear replacing a 1.99:1 gear tranfer case (originally from a 4 speed transition years) into an H41. I know I will have a lower geared Low 4, but will that also affect my Hi 2wd?

Sorry for my poor explanation!

regards

In a word, No

Transfer case high range is 1:1 - only low range is different.

Not to hijack the thread, it is related, does anybody make a transfer case that would esentually act as an overdrive in high range instead of 1:1, something like a .7:1?

Hi All:

"BJ40Man," the low-range gear ratios only effect low-range operation; the high-range gear set is seperate.

"Acrididae,"

I don't believe any such t-case exists, though if one had a vehicle with a longer drive train they could assemble some compliamentry gear boxes - one an underdrive, the other an overdrive.

Regards,

Alan

marks of au. makes a gearset for the later split t-case with an overdrive high and a deeper low range, i think .8high and 2.8 low.
never heard of anything for the one piece case... and i looked.
