ARB in a Full Float Axle Question

If I get a full Floating FJ40 or FJ60 rear Axle Housing, will my existing FJ40 3rd member with an ARB (from a semi floater) work with in the full floater?

Just thinking wondering.
Thanks,
Dave

almost positive full floaters are specific. ARB for front would fit full floater rear. 99%

Hi All:

!Si, Senor Pete!

The semi-floater Air Locker will work in either axle type, but the full-floater ARB only works in a full-floating axle assembly.

the difference is that the semi-floater Air Locker has three spider gears, while the full-floater version has four spider gears.

Regards,

Alan

And the reason for the three spider gears is so that there can be an opening in the ARB unit to get to the c-clips used to retain the axle shafts in semi-float applications.

You will put the thrust block pieces, spider gear pinion shaft and retainer in the same way and locktite the retaining bolt for the retainer. Then just install the third into the full float axle housing.

the 60 housing is wider than your 40 housing Dave.

PM choreboy , he got a arb off me he may not be usin . Then you could set up the new axle prior to install.

I was thinking the added width of the 60 would be nice. Not sure I am wild about running wheel spacers up front though.

I am right now, no problems yet. On the street at 60 mph or breaking longfields on the trail...
