Well it's time to start work, I had planned to pull the engine out after Vic Winch Challenge in late Aug and have the new 2F-ETI ready for comp in March 08.
Someone had better ideas though and moved Vic Winch this week to late Nov
So things have moved up a little. We would have had a good 6 months to play with to do this in now we have just over 3
The engine builder has now been told to source a short motor 2F for our needs and start work as I don't have the luxury of time to pull mine out and play with that.
This will however mean I have a spare tweaked 2F in the shed.
Now the one thing we have not yet discussed in detail is the Turbo, the engine builder is looking at at least 300 hp but maybe as high as 400 hp depending on boost
Now I have been searching through the net and I am pretty spoilt for choice the question is, who make a good Turbo Charger?
For my 2c I can't see us making it in time but we will give it our best shot to be ready for mid Nov and the new Vic Winch dates.

Matt, if you wanna know about turbo chargers, prob best to head over to a performance car forum such has Hot4s or fast 4s etc, guys over there would probably have alot more experience with turbos and what sort of engines they are best suited to etc..

Well after a few days in a dark room with my 14 year old daughters scientific calculator we have concluded I suck at math.
My Daughter however says the most suitable turbo size would be a Garrett GT3582R I new I had kids for a reason

Don't know if this helps you, but back when I was looking at building my 87 Supra Turbo, one trick everyone used was early Lexus V8 Injectors.
Fit perfect and had a lot more flow.
I have no idea how either relate to the 3FE, but it might be worth a look?
(Also swapping in the V8 air flow sensor gave a lower reading for a given amount of airflow. The whole system when tweaked a bit with fuel pressure and bypassed airflow would trick the factory computer into running withing it's mapping )

could be wrong though. I think they're a good product though. Make sure you get one that's oil cooled and plumbed into your oil lines. That was much better than a sealed when I was into it, but it's been a few years and things might have changed???

Had a good search around for Supra Turbo injectors and can't find anything in Oz that does not involve changing the fuel rail and other bits with high enough flow rates
Came up with these is the states TOYOTA Supra 87-92 Turbo 550cc Direct fit Injectors by Venom on an eBay

Big thanks to the Akarilo and his thread http://forum.ih8mud.com/60-series-wagons/163559-can-you-turbo-3fe.html
We will go the same way for the exhaust manifold to the turbo
Only difference been I will go a 2 into one collector at the T3 turbo manifold

The ones I found in the USA on eBay are an after marker stright swap 550cc as apossed to the 213cc originally fitted with. These will do just fine.
V8 injectors tend to be smaller due to more cylinders and the flow rates for a Turbo are far higher.
The Supra ones were a great Idea, Much better after market performance parts for these and only $20 shipping to Oz

Just an update on an earlier post now I have the Jaguar con Rod specs.

Jaguars straight 6 Cyl 4.2Ltr E Type con rods come in at 7.75 center to center the new JE pistons will be more akin to the 3F-E and the hight of these will set the compression.
Today I got to touch them
Now on with the 3F-E headers, the PO had just hacked them off at the exhaust pipe and as always sods law applies 3 out of the 4 exhaust bolts were no problem at all the 4th is now round
Ah well another little job for the tool maker at work before I shot blast them ready to be ceramic coated. I was also tight enough not to throw out the heat shields which I think may now come in very useful Oh yes and to find something to fill that strange hole in them that I can find no use for.

Matt,
The big hole in the exhaust manifold was probably for the EGR. I used a freeze plug to fill it.

I'll catch up with the engine builder and get the ARP rod bolts part No, but remember these are to suit a Jaguar con rod not a 2F.
Now I had a look at a few options around for filling the the EGR hole on the headers and elected to us a 3/4 BSP Plug in Stainless Steel as this was the easiest for me.
So the metric hole was re tapped with no drilling required to 3/4 BSP and a plug fitted and stud locked.
The plugs are a stock item at most pneumatic outlets who deal with galvanized pipe, or a good plumbers merchant.

Well did a little more today and came across a surprise, the heat shields off the 3F-E headers I thought were some kind of fiberglass or moulded plastic but actually they are two layers of thin metal pressed and folded together.
So rather than just washing off the mud and giving them a good scrub I popped into work and shot blasted them clean.
Now the question is will these give me any benefit if i have them ceramic coated along with the headers or will a coat of heat proof paint do just as well.

Well ever since I rebuilt my 40 after this in early 2006
With this from eBay
Back to this
I have had this hole from the PO, in which resided a vacuum gauge to show how economically you are driving. Now come on we all know this is a total waste of time, it's a 40 and the only way it's going to be anymore economical it to make it lighter. So I did and through the gauge out
The old air filter and snorkel left a hole which lent it's self perfectly to the twin battery isolator switch in red. (comp requirement)
The ash tray and radio hole became

Well for just over a year now I have had this annoying hole just above the head light switch Well guess what I found a use for the hole
Now I have only to fit and connect the turbo and find a use for the long range fuel tank hole.

All quite when I got home for work this morning
Sprayed the Heat shields yesterday for the headers
Paint has to cure in an oven for best results
Windows are now wide open hmmmmm this stuff stinks
I think I'll stack the dish washer
Might be in trouble this time.

Injectors are in bound from TLF $335US Plus shipping
http://stores.ebay.com/TLFperformanceparts
Flow rates for these are 550cc plenty for what I need
Headers will be back next week, Time to start saving for the Turbo and ECU

Well the headers are back
But so bling are they i elected to put the heat shields on so not to hurt your eyes
Now your eyes have adjusted
Might have to get some shinny anodized bolts to replace the old heat shield ones

Oh we will we this thead started with a Dyno read out and this is where this thread will finish
The Engine may make 400hp and be the most powerful 2F know to man but it is far more likely we will run a little less boost. It needs to be reliable at comp as well as powerful.
