JC Whitney Garage-Pro Mastercraft seat copy - will they fit?

Is anyone running these seats? I am not sure if they will fit with the narrow Tuffy box between them. They measure 23" wide and my stockers are around 21" wide.

How wide are some of the aftermarket seats folks are running with a tuffy box between them in a 40? Post up please.

These seats are a copy of the Mastercraft off-road suspension seat.

I did a little more research and Corbeau Baja SS are 21" wide while Mastercraft Sportsman are 22" wide. I am a betting I can compress the JC Whitney clone 1" against the Tuffy box and make it fit.

So to hijack my own thread...

Those of you running these non reclining suspension seats of any brand. How much do you miss the recline feature in a seat? I have to put in 8 to 10 hours behind the wheel to get to some trails and find myself adjusting the tilt of my stock torture seat often to stay comfortable.

does 19 deep refer to the seat bottom in the specs? I would think that it would sit fairly tall in early trucks with a gas tank under the passenger. Not an issue for you (if your sig line about the 79 is the truck you are refering to.)

Nice looking seats for the coin, though.

I actually have the Mastercraft Seast that recline. They are very comfy and worth the price. The seats are very high quality.

I have suspension seats that do not recline, just mounted them at the angle I liked and although I do not drive long distances but a 2 to 3 hour drive is very comfortable. Never even considered the lack of recline a problem.

I decided that I don't think I can live without recline and went with these instead. http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/I...D:100000330597

$249.99 for a pair with free shipping! They added on a $17 large package charge. I will let you know once I get them if they are comfortable and if they appear to be built well. I think anything will beat my stock seat with a bent back at this point.

Uno, those are some very nice seats you have but they are out of my price range for this project.

Update!

I received my pair of black racing seats last night and unfortunately they don't fit people with a long torso. My 5' 3" wife fits perfect in the seat but the upper bolsters hit my shoulders and make the seat uncomfortable for my 6' 1" self. So I am going to sell or return this pair and go with the off-road non reclining seats that were my first choice and take a chance on those.

These seats appear to be very well made and I am impressed with the quality of workmanship I can see. If I fit in the seat I wouuld definitely run them in my 40.

Frizzlefry, Please post up your observations about the off-road seats once you receive yours. I will do the same.

You said they are uncomfortable for someone your size. How tall a person do you think they would be comfortable for? You couldn't angle the base back and recline the back to make them work for you? I was looking at those but would like them to be comfortable. Thanks. ...Steve

I have seen seats that look very similar to those at checker auto parts. You could look at them in person, and probably even sit in one. I've even seen them on sale before for $100 a pop.

SteveO, I would not buy them if you are much over 5' 3". The issue is where your shoulders hit the upper bolsters that stick out. They really push my shoulders forward and inwards, very uncomfortable. My wife is the only other person I have had sit in the seat and at 5' 3" she found them a perfect fit. I adjusted the seat back from vertical to very reclined. With the seat back very reclined my shoulders missed the upper bolsters but it was too reclined to give any upper back support. If you are in the 6' height range I don't think you will fit well in this seat.

Frizzlefry, The seats ship from IL.

If anyone local wants to try these out or may be interested in buying them let me know, otherwise I am shipping them back this weekend.

Thanks for the info. I'm looking to find a set of seats and order them to our hotel when we head south this summer and bring them back so I'm curious to see how you like the second set you ordered. Keep us posted. ....Steve

I received my "off-road" seats today and am very happy. I fit in them! They are comfortable but don't have near the lower back or side support the reclining racing seats I am returning do. I measured the seats to only be 21 1/4" inches wide at the widest part of the seat base so they will work great with a Tuffy box between them.
