okay I think I got alot done tonight and today in general... I spent my lunch hour getting bolts... made a list and went to fastenal should have everything I ordered in the morning.....

also got my rear main seal from Poser along with a thermo. so I put in the thermostate and also had to put the gaskets on the thermostat and water pump.. so I did that and made sure to use the proper gasket sealer made to withstand anti freeze better than regular stuff..

also put on my alt. that I redid.. I dont think it is going to work... I took pics to post on here to show you guys... I am going to be pissed because I spend so much time getting it to look nice but... what do you do.. Poser called me and I tryied to tell him what I was taking about but hope a pic is worth a thousand words... talk to you in the morning about 7 AM Poser... hahhah!!

I also got my rear main seal from my man Poser....( what would I do with out you!!) any way... I used a trick I found here on MUD and I wish I remembered who posted this first, it is great..

So I know it is somtimes difficult to install the rear main seal without damaging it. some people were saying they would buy two seals in case the damaged one while putting it in.. well at $40 a pop I did not want to buy another just to have on hand... (plus I know a guy that could get me one in a day if I needed one )

Here is the good part... I went to Home Depot and got a PVC pipe with a cap on it... 4" female end with a screw in adaptor... works perfect to pound in the seal... They charged me about $2.50 for the pipe.... I think they charged me wrong... but since I dont care... I gave the lady the money and walked out...

Look at my pics of everthing..

bottom pic is with the seal on.. see it fits perfect, put some grease on the seal and simple started it in the hole. then I put my PVC tool on it and hit is slightly with a hammer and no problems!!

Cute...sounds like you have been into the pink coolaid...

So where is the problem with the alternator?

Get the tensioning bracket installed and be done with it.

Why do you think that it is not going to work?

If nothing else, bring the alternator and bracket with you when you come down next time, and if we need to modify a tensioning bracket to work with this alternator, we will.

I see what you are talking about with the ear for the tensioning bracket mount

I also had my fly wheel re surfaced when I got my engine done... another trick I learned from one of Poser posts... Paint pen on the mark on the fly wheel so I can see it better to time the engine....

I am happy with how it came out and worth the $$ of the paint pen ($4.00) as I think it will come in handy in the future to have on hand...

pics as you expect... (if you feel like rating my thread feel free... )

also started putting on my clutch..... I still have to get my throw out bearing off and put on my new one.... I dont think I have a large enough socket to get it out... Will deal with it tomarrow... here are some pic of what is done so far... Millhouse labled it "fly wheel side" for me so this was easy... we talked about putting clutches in but I was having alot of fun by that time ... But think it will go in okay once I get the throw out in...

ok well got some stuff done tonight... I took off the clutch and flywheel that I put on... I want to get those stud as Poser said and I did break off a bolt in the fly wheel from the clutch bolts... I am really glad it was not the fly wheel bolts....

Pic #1 is what it looked broken off...

Pic #2 My dad gave me a kit similar to the one you might have seen on a post not too long ago when Steve broke off a bolt in a fly wheel... so I thought I would do the same... started out by using a punch and then drilled a small pilot hole... suppose to be in the center , close enough... Then my plan was to drill it with a bigger bit... I dont remember the size now it was labled in the bolt retractor kit my dad gave me... after I drilled the larger hole I was going to insert the extractor and then back it out with a wrench...

Pic #3 I got lucky and when I was drilling out the larger hole the bolt got stuck on the drill bit and I was easily able to back it out by simply rev. the drill bit... as Poser said in his thread "I would rather be lucky than good!" so true!!!

no damage done to the threads... I checked with a new bolt!!!

Now I wanted to actually install my headers and intake manifold... so far ever pic you have seen has just been them kind of sitting on the studs but not actually bolted in....

I was not looking forward to this job!! I knew it would be a huge PITA and I was correct.. I bet it took be an hour and a half to get those FUCKERS installed... It really pissed me off and wrecked the rest of my evening... (took the rest of the night off and Deb took me to dinner, so actually I am fine now.. thanks Deb!)

Any how they are installed now and dont know if they will leak... WTF why would'nt they!!!! you know someone upstairs enjoyed watching me struggle with this and would love to see me try it again... Never again with these headers... They fit like shit... guess this is what I get for trying to save a buck and not buying new good ones.... dont even know what kind these are..

anyhow you have seen pics of this before but damnit..... I spent so much time please look one more time...

as you can see on Pic #2 I put a nice big dent in the headers when they fell and hit the frame...

Had some help in the shop tonight... my little bud Sawyer Brown decided he would hang out with me tonight.... Usually all he wants to do is play with his tennis ball in the yard..

He is a great pal and a self proclaimed good pheasant and goose hunter!

any how here he is in the shop!!

Also just wanted to say I poked some fun at my Friend Pete the other day for showing up late... but just wanted to say Pete has helped me more than any one of my friends ( not including Poser or my Dad) so far.. He has been there on short notice to help me lift things or flip the frame or what ever, a huge help, which has allowed me to move more quickly on parts of this project... Also I know Peter is a often reader and follower of my form, as he thinks one day I might let him drive this thing! hahaha! Thanks man!! You know I was giving you shit.. BTW think you owe me lunch!
