also got my U bolts cut off, took the hubs off and put new gasket on them and also put the snap ring in there... I did not have to correct tool to do that when I rebuilt those knuckles.. had to borrow one from Steve... also changed my tie rods around... Think I fucked one up however....

I dont think I want to take a chance on running it like it is... so I will have to get another one...

Also had the cops stop by the shop last week... seems Sawyer was out in the yard and wondered over to the neighbors yard (which he goes over there all the time, because the other neighbor give him treats) any way this old hag calls the cops and said Sawyer growled at her... This is a neighbor that I have never met and she told the cops that she did not want to come over and meet me because there are "too many crazy people in the world today"

....

So the cop was super cool actually.. hung out in the shop for a while played with sawyer and said "yea he is no threat to anyone but a tennis ball" and any of you that know him, know that he is all about playing, follows directions, and if he has one flaw is that he is too friendly and gets too excited to meet new people...

The shitty thing over this whole deal is that he had to write a report so now my pouch has a record... so if there ever any other problem now it will be his second offense... hope the old hag dies soon...

I had a wedding thing on saturday afternoon... so I changed the oil in my honda on saturday morning..... I dont remember the rest of the day

I went out to the shop yesterday and was going to take the carb off so I could send it to JimC.... but I almost puked by the time I took off the first nut... so I said fuck this and went in and laid on the couch... that is where I was all day.... I decided I dont do hang-overs anymore..........

so no I got nothing done... those brake line dies should be here thursday... I also ordered my SEM so that will be here this week.. maybe this weekend I might try to shoot some of that on one of the fenders...

Well I guess not a ton done last week… but I am moving in the right direction.. I got my SEM on Friday. I had to go to the body shop/paint store to get a pint of color (mixed without the binder, I suggest bringing your SEM can with you as they really look at you funny when you tell them to leave out the binder

)

Last week I got my fenders out and sanded all the stickers off and also scuffed everything up.. same with the tranny hump. I hung them from the ceiling and shot 3 coats of etching primer on them.. I was hoping this SEM would come before the weekend so I wanted to be ready when it did..

Last night Pete stopped by for a beer so since he was there we took... off that body flipped it over and threw it on some saw horses... I need to get that scuffed up, primer shot, then I am going to SEM just the wheel wells and paint the rest body color. I was going to SEM the whole thing but 2 reasons why I am not... 1. I thought it would help keep down the noise, but since I have decided to not ever put my hard top back on it really does not matter. #2 paint is cheaper and will still look as nice, and also I need to get some more practice painting before the stuff you will see every time you look at it happens...

scuffed the bottom of the tub and shot primer, then shot green last night... I have to say I am not happy at all with how it turned out... I knew it would not be completly smooth because I did not sand the primer at all.. and that is fine, it is the bottom of the tub... but what I am not happy about is there are some bubbles (very small) that were in the from part of the tub?? what causes them? too much gun pressure??? dust?? I was carful to wipe this all down before but I did not wipe it down between coats or between the primer and paint?? should I have??? please post up your thoughts??? I need way more practice painting... this will never fly on the body!!!

Still have to shoot the SEM on the wheel wells... probably give it a few days to dry before I try to mask off anything with tape.. no sense fucking up my shitty paint job more..

20-30 min... Which I think the can said 15-20 min, I would have to check again… it was dry to the touch. My only reason for not thinking this is the bubbles happened immediately, not after sitting for a while… after a while some of them did pop..

I can't really tell from the pics, but it could be "fish eye" which is usually caused by silicone based materials like armor all or brake cleaner, motor oil etc.. Basically, what happens is the paint doesn't want to stick to the surface because of the silicone no matter how much you sand or clean. My father has owned a body shop for 35 years, and if I even step foot in his place with a bottle of armor all he's cursing me like a truck driver. It's a painters kryptonite. One good thing is you didn't paint the rest of the tub. Ask the autobody supply store you go to for fish eye remover, but that's trial and error. Always start out with it light in the mix and go up from there. If you put in too much it will orange peel on you. You also have to use it in the base as well as the clear. Hope this helps (if that's the case)!!
