Some progress pics from the weekend down at Brooksys....

Main plan was to fit the rear bar, make some tube rear flares, and possibly get a start on some sliders. Rear bar took all of saturday to get sorted and fitted up, then it kinda looked nothing like I hoped, so it will now get scrapped. Making the bar as wide as the tread of the tyres was a mistake Should have just got Brooksy to build one from the start instead of me modelling it in solidworks and getting it lasercut.

Some pics.

Will now get Brook to make one similar to the one he did on this jeep.

Now for the flares. First I got Kane at Komited Kustoms to weld in some infil panels in the front of the wheel arch (since the diff has come back 5" there was a large opening at the front of the rear wheels).

Finished panel welded in with flare mount bolted on.

The finished flare. The top side will get sheeted in, then they'll get colour matched to the truck.

With the 35" Krawlers on.

Brooksy is able to make these up for other 40 series trucks (in Oz), so PM him if your keen on a set.

Went down to Brooks on the weekend and he done up the rear bar. Went with a small and simple look. Towbar is still yet to be cut in, the top will get plated in as well as some of the other face, will also get a couple of mounts back to the chassis rails each side.

Brooksy needed some front fenders for his BJ....so that was the perfect excuse to rip mine off so he can fab up some tube ones for me Can't wait to see these take shape.

As for V8 progress, had the heads done last week, for much less $ then expected. Am getting Ken at Better Heads in Geebung to do all the work. Has been great to deal with so far.
Better Heads Engineering in Aspley cylinder head repairs

Ben came over sat morning and help dissamble the bottom end. Which revealed both good and bad news. Bearings were all good, and have definetly been replaced, but was lots of gunk, and some surface rust.

Will take all these bits down to Better Heads this week to get measured up and find out what bits need replacing.

Ride is really good, has a fair amount of bodyroll, but you get used to that.

Hehe, not yet Brad....slowly getting there but.....and yeah, keep it up to dat on the the 3 main forums I visit.

Bit of an update but.

Picked up the engine, heads, and all the new bits from Ken at Better Heads this week. Then today Ben came around to help start putting the V8 all back together. Got all the bottom end done before calling it a day.
All the new bits. Block was bored 60 thou over, and crank 20 thou over. Already had a aftermarket cam in it (most likely a towing cam), so left that, but still got new lifters.

New main bearings installed ready for some assembly lube, then the crank.

Crank in and torqued down to specs.

New piston and rings installed onto the old rods.

Bottom end done.

Hello Mr. Dave

Hello Mr. Dave,

I confuse to choose which Bilstein 5125s that suit for Toyota Landcruiser BJ40 1982.

Can you help me to give me your advise?
I finally found http://www.allshocks.com that sell Bilstein shockabsorbers.

Here is the list of 5125s from that website.
AllShocks.com | Bilstein 5125 Series Offroad Shocks

Thank you for your kindness.
