FJ40 - FJ55 steering boxes. Are they the same?

Hey, just wondering if anyone has swapped these boxes either way between a 40 or 55? They appear to be the same. Thanks

Thanks for that. It looks like the pitman arm is on a different spline position. Is that the onle subtle change apart from the rag joint (or lack thereof on the 55)?

As far as I know that is the only real difference...

The pitman arm can be clocked four different positions....

IIRC the factory claims they are different. Variable ratio in the Pig box, not inthe '40.

They interchange perfectly and I have never ben able to notice a difference in the real world when driving a '40 with a stock PS setup, one with a swapped in '55 box and one with a swapped in mini-truck box.
