| Weld on slider question... I'm having some tube sliders made for my 40, but I wanted to get some opinions on welding them to the frame. Most of the weld on sliders I've seen have the connector tubes welded directly to the frame. I've also read the idea of first welding the connector tubes to a steel plate, then welding gussets from the plate to the connector tubes for added strength. The plates would then be welded to the frame. This is obviously stronger, but is it overkill? In other words, would welding the connector tubes directly to the frame be strong enough to withstand any forseeable contact with rocks? I do a lot of rock crawling on the Rubicon, Fordyce, and similar trails so the sliders will definitely see a lot of action. I have no problem with using the plate/gusset design if the added strength provides added benefit. Has anyone bent weld on sliders where they connect to the frame (non-plate/gusset type)?
Thanks
