| Not sure about yours but my '82 FJ45 had original radio. AM only and no cassette. Never heard of a CB as a factory/showroom option but I could be wrong. None of this is probaly of any use to you as it was undoubtedly done differently in Australia. Maybe consider my post as nothing short of trivia from the other side of the world!
edit: that inline fuse holder looks a bit generic to me. Again, I could be wrong!

| as far as i know midland never made the toyota cb or at least it wasnt stamped midland...the toyota cb had a toyota stamping on the outside case. this is not to say it wasn't a dealer option (it looks like a really cool setup)...but i don't think this is a factory unit, i have seen two both mounted under dash and one with an external speaker also stamped toyota. Yours looks like a regular midland late 70's cb and also late 70's am/fm casette deck.

| Landpimp has an original CB incorporated into the OEM dash mounted radio in his FJ40. Whether it was OEM to the FJ40 is a question but it's definitely a factory radio/cb combination.
That installation is a typical CB shop aftermarket install by a cb or stereo shop maybe, or the owner did it. It sure isn't anything Toyota ever did by design.
that mount is a typical tunnel mount that can be bought in cb shops or anywhere that has a good selection of such stuff.. Sometimes they need a little bending to fit but usually not. Tunnels are similar across many vehicles.
It's not or wasn't uncommon for cbers of little knowledge to buy any of the myriad of "antenna combiners" that fed the cb off of a regular car antenna. It didn't work worth a damn for either but lots of J.C. Whitney readers thought it was a great idea.

I know these did not come from Toyota installed, but I have seen accessories in many brochures that are not labeled Toyota. This does not mean they were not available.
This bracket is a production piece and not a hand built piece. The screws that hold the CB and radio in place are Toyota hardware. It does not touch the console, mat, shift boot or interfear with shifting.
If it is not a part that was sold by Toyota in the parts dept, its the nicest one I have seen.
Both pieces are dated 1977.

| The mount looks like the ones that they use in the police cars to mount their radios and sirens/light control boxes in the same location on the trany hump.

| no, what you have it not toyota.
BUT, yes there was a FJ40 Toyota CB radio option, it did fit in the dash(and there was a special bracket kit for it, someplace I even have the part #'s)
there were a few options on how it worked, one was that it used the stock glove box speaker and cut the radio off when used.........now the question is.....if the CB was in the dash.......where was the radio? Other was it used its own speaker(well I think it has its own speaker........mine is wired up to power but never got around to hooking up the antenna
I suspect most of the OEM CB's(and the same unit was offered for all Toyota's) were mounted underdash with the AM or AM/FM radio mounted in the dash
there are at least 2 versions of the Toyota(made by Fijus?? Ten) the one I have in the 82 FJ40 has all the bells and wistles, I have the other less featured version in a box-o-stuff someplace. You will also find these same units with another name on the front..I forget what it is.
and no.....I don't have mine installed with the OEM bracket.....I spaced out and forgot to bid on the CB on Ebay with the damn bracket
part of the harness, I didn't use this as its the part that interfaces with the OEM radio/speaker

| I thought that back then you needed a license to operate a CB? Weird that it would be an option.

| Back then CB's had a license application in the original documentation for the radio so I'd imagine that there was one included along with the rest of the paper when a new FJ40 was purchased.
There's never been much FCC enforcement of CB licensing rules anyway. It was an 'on your honor' type of thing.
