manifold removal

Hello, Could someone please give me a step by step for a manifold removal. I have never done one and want to make sure I don't miss anything or do anything wrong. I know I will take lots of pictures and label hoses and connections...

Starting with removing the air filter....

also please include any big trouble spots that I should be aware of...

Many thanks in advance... i just want to try and be informed...

Chaka....
The removal of the manafolds is an easy process.
First you remove the air cleaner, Then you can unhook the gas line and the choke cable from carb, also if there are wires that are connected to the auto choke you can unplug them...Unhook the throttle linkage from the back of the carb Unhook the PVC hose and the vacuum advance hose from the carb also. You should take pictures or label the wires. Remove the carb and put it where it will not get dirty. You should be carful not to tip it over as it will spill gas. You should take off the bracket that holds the air cleaner onto the block these are held on by the two head bolts on the front left of engine. These head bolts are torqued to about 80 lbs so you might need a breaker bar. next you should unbolt the headder pipe of your exhaust. Mine had two bolts...some have three depending on wheather there has been any modifications. These bolts are sometimes hard to turn. They get rusted and may need some liquid wrench or some other solvent. Also unbolt the oil filter bracket if yours is mounted on the manifold. You can just leave the oil filter hang from the oil lines. Now you can unbolt the manifolds and lift it out. I would not recommend taking the exhaust and intake manifords apart as you do not want to create a miss alignment problem.
Hope this helps. There is a lot of info on this topic if you do a search on the other posts.
